Baby swing question
I am wondering what to do about baby swings....
We bought a little Fisher Price rain forest or safari swing. Just the travel one since I figured we could take it camping, move from room to room and take it other places. Well, Zach hates it. He doesn't like my parents larger one either. He loves his cheap little bouncy seat but I worry that he will be bored with that.
Are there any swings that your babies loved? I don't really want to spend $140ish for the fancier swings if he is going to hate that one too.
Thanks for any ideas!
Chrissy
I'm thinking he just might not be a swing kind of guy. If you really want to try another one, look on Craigslist. You can get pretty good ones there most of the time. I'm going to be putting all our baby stuff on there in a couple of weeks, its good quailty, but I'm done having kids. I liked our Fisher Price Aquarium swing because you could make it swing back and forth or side to side. If thats not an option on yours, maybe thats one you could try out. Good luck!

Both of our kids LOVED the FP Papasan swing. The difference between it and what you've got is that it will go sideways. We *never* had it going back and forth, just sideways.
See if you have a friend closeby who has one of the swings with both directions, and ask if you can come over for a bit to try it out. That's what we did before we splurged on our swing, and Kaitlin fell asleep in it within 4 minutes. It was a no-brainer at that point. And both kids used it well past 6 months (before it died.. Daniel would have used it longer if it had been a possibility).
SweatPeace wasn't out when we bought our swings, so I can't give you any thoughts on it.

Sadly, my first 2 children were NOT swing babies. We tried, but the swing just took up space and wasn't used. We got rid of it and just bought another one after Everett was born. He likes it some days, but there is no love and there are more days where he doesn't like it at all. I'm going to try it a few more months and then sell it on Craigs List if he doesn't take to it more.
The bouncy seat was a really basic thing (fabric over a metal frame with vibrate-only) but they LOVED IT! So much so, that it broke and we couldn't buy one anymore so we used duct tape to fix it. IMHO, don't invest in the expensive swings. If Zach doesn't like the portable or larger one, he won't like any of the other ones.
Good luck and post pictures soon - I'm sure he's just adorable!
Hugs,

Thanks!
That is what I am worried about. I guess he will soon enjoy being on the floor and it will be easier to entertain him. Until then I will stick with the bouncy seat and maybe have him try out one of the sings that goes side to side.
I will post more pics soon, our camera is driving me nuts and the pictures are turning out crappy!

Hi Chrissy,
Im not sure if I would spend a bunch of money on a new swing if he doesn't like the portable one already. The only kind of swings my babies liked were the side to side ones....I have kind of a cheesy idea...but it might just work. I would take baby to Babies are Us...put him in one of their Demo swings that goes side to side and see how he likes it...if he screams his head off there, then you know definitely do not waste your money...LOL I do not know if you would have the guts to do that, but I would if it was going to save me some money! LOL
