terrified....help!
Hey everyone. I am 5 months and 1 week out from my RNY. I took a pregnancy test ...okay I took 3 of them....all of which were positive.
We found out the night before we left for a week long vacation that we had planned for months now.
I called my OB and made an appointment and when I get back to the US I will call and make an appointment with my surgeon.
I am terrified because I'm so early out from surgery.
Please tell me there have been success stories out there like this! I'm so scared, but clearly this wasn't the plan....but here we are! Don't get me wrong, I'm super excited, this will be our first baby, I'm just terrified because of the cir****tances.
thanks for listening...

Congrats momma! Although the situation is not ideal, you will be fine. I have no experience with it as I am trying to get pregnant right now, but I know many women on this board have gotten pregnant early out and they were fine!

Take a deep breath. Take another one. You are among good company and many successful early-out pregnancies. Pregnancy when morbidly obese is actually higher risk than that post-WLS.
Add carbs back to your diet immediately to help slow the rapid weight loss (which creates ketosis). Up your fluids and protein. Start taking folic acid as soon as possible. Other than that, you are doing all the right things by scheduling appointments.
I conceived just 1 month post-op (despite using BC) and my baby boy is now a healthy 12 lbs and 3 months old.
CONGRATULATIONS and try to relax! Feel free to PM if I can help in any way.
Hugs,

ME! I got pregnant 4 months out from RNY. I found out when I was 5 months out though...my son is perfect! I still managed to gain 50 lbs and have a 10.5 lb baby so no worries on the absorption issue. LOL. All while only intaking about 1000 calories a day!
The baby will get what they need from you. So, if anyone suffers, it will be you. So make sure you keep up on your vitamins and such. My OB said I was healthier than most of her clients and I was diabetic and had sleep apnea with PCOS before surgery!
I will say to just be careful with your food intake though and the choices you make. I still managed to gain 50 lbs hardly eating, however, I did not lose another pound afterwards as those added snacks were hard to kick. I mean, I lost 42 lbs of the pregnancy weight, but I held on to those last remaining 8 for dear life. Ugh. So, I started this pregnancy 8-10 lbs heavier than my last one. But, I'm healthy, my kids are healthy, and hell, I'm able to keep a pregnancy which I couldn't do before!
So, CONGRATS, RELAX, and GOOD LUCK!!
