Party in my hospital room
Hi ladies. I went to the ER yesterday morning after some severe abdominal cramps. I talked with my surgeon and she thought it might have been something to do with my gallbladder, although after an ultrasound and bloodwork, it showed no stones. She still thinks it might be GB related, but more functional opposed to stones. After they gave me 2nd shot of morphine, the excruciating pain went away. The er doc tried to get me to just go home, but I was adamant about talking to my surgeon to get her opinion. Of course I cannot get a CT scan to check out bypass stuff, so she admitted me for obs and a GI scope in the AM. Well I was sore, but pain free after the morphine all night and this morning she wanted me to try eating and see how that went - if it went okay, we would do an ultra low fat diet and look at taking my gallbladder out in the 2nd tri. Well I got really nauseous after eating and my abdomen started hurting, but NOTHING like yesterday. That was doubled over debilitating. By the time she came back to my room today, it was too late to do the scope so I will be here ANOTHER night and will have the scope tomorrow. If nothing comes up with that, I'll be drinking protein shakes for a bit I guess.
Just crazy with the amount of pain I was in yesterday and nothing except minor discomfort and nausea. Sucks too because I am here another night. And I am a little concerned about the baby, but my surgeon said they can't/won't do anything since I am only 9w1d and the baby isn't viable or anything. So now we wait to see what the scope results say.
PITA!

Oh Jenn, that really sucks! I'm glad you found some relief, but frustrating to not have answers or a 100% improvement. No experience with GB pain, but I had a series of u/s's, upper endoscopy and an MRI early in PG to rule out issues I had with chronic abdominal pain. I truly hope the dr's either figure out what is wrong (and that's it's minor), or find a way to make you feel better soon. In the meantime, enjoy the pampering, watch lots of crappy TV and try to get a bit of rest. I've heard the food is quite good at New Hampshire Hospital (I'm assuming that's where you're staying), so maybe order a bit of room service and catch a C-rated movie? LOL
