41 Week Appt today & Pics
Good Morning!
Today, in about an hour and a half, I have an appointment with the doctor (gotta see him, not the midwife today as I am now a week overdue) for an US to check Lydia's weight, length, and amniotic fluid. Last Wednesday, I was not dialted/effaced, ... big fat nothing. Hopefully today when I get checked, there will have been some progress.
At this point, I'm very uncomfortable. I am not able to sleep more than a hour at a time, I have heart palpatations all the time, my bowles are just sooo on their own program - makes it really hard to go anywhere! And, I am totally exhausted. I know these things don't go away with birth, I'm just really ready to move on and hoping this happens soon. Based on tests today, I may ask him to sweep the membranes to try to get things moving without medication as we are still seeking an unmedicated birth ... has anyone else gone this route at 41 weeks?
Also, I uploaded a couple more pictures ...
Have a a great day, ladies! I will post if something exciting happens.

Ugh. The waiting is the worst!
I asked my doctor about stripping membranes at 40 weeks.... he said, in his experience, stripping membranes when there is not a dialation of at least 3cm usually doesn't do anything. Often times he says the membrane will regenerate (although at 41 weeks it probably wouldn't - that's my opinion!).
In the end my body did it on it's own without medicine or stripping of membranes....
I say at this point though, what can it hurt? I read up on membrane stripping and there is a SLIGHT chance of infection, but it seems small....
Good Luck and I hope you pop soon!

My cousin wanted non-medicated also and went 42 weeks. She finally got induced and he was so big they ended up with a c-section last week...not what she wanted! She tried EVERYTHING to make him come on his "own" but he wouldn't budge. Sometimes...they just need a little help, like we need alarm clocks, I guess!
Good luck!

Hi Sandy,
Thank you so much for your input. Yeah, not dialated or effaced at all, and that's my fear - that we'll wait too long and end up with a C-Section. I guess I would rather have meds to start labor than end up with abdominal surgery. I'm just dissapointed that things are not going 100% according to MY plan. Lol. Welcome to motherhood, I guess. :-) I just have to keep i mind that I have to do what is best for the baby, and at this point, I guess inuction on Monday is best if my body doesn't kick into gear on its own this weekend.

I agree that in your own time is a good thing if all is well with baby and you healthwise. My friend went to 42 weeks, was induced, endured labor to get to 10 cm and 2 hrs of pushing to then ultimately have a c-section...dr thinks baby just was not ready and being that she was not a big baby and no other concerns would have been okay as my friend had started to dilate on her own.
You look great too...nice perfect bump that is tiny for what I imagined but you could be tall like me...took me forever to get one and when I did no where near as big as I wanted it to be...lol
