Thank you to the loads of responses I got from my previous post. I have been seeing a million doctors. I swear I feel like I am going for lap band surgery again. I have gotten clearence from my PCP,  my gyno, the Maternal fetal medicine doctor and I have the green light to TTC!!!

All my blood work came back.... I have been told for the past 5 years I have PCOS, but I have always thought it was a BS diagnosis given by a fat phobic doctor bc there were never any cysts. WELLLLLL..... my PCOS pannel is back and my fertility doc says I absolutely DO NOT have PCOS!!!!!! I KNEW IT!!!!!!

But now here I am.... What is wrong with me? As much as I hated the PCOS diagnosis, it was almost comforting to have a label. So the doc said its prob just my weight. But, when I was 200lbs I was still not ovulating. So who knows? I am never going to be 150lbs so if i need clomid to get pregnant with however many children i want then so be it.

I do have a question for the moms out there who used clomid and were heavy at the time of pregnancy. (I know that narrows my audience but its a specific question) I was told that I need to not have a multiple birth which I am ok with but I dont believe in going in and killing one or more off to make it a singleton. The doctors are planning to see how many follicles there are and I will base my baby making activities only when there is one folicle. Did anyone else go through this? How often does clomid cause only one folicle versus multiple follicles? Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks all,
Rachel

I have taken clomid several times - each time I weighed anywhere from 200 - 230 lbs. Sometimes I would have 1 follicle, sometimes 4  always the same doesage of clomid (125). One time I had 5 follicles and ended up with 1 baby - my first daughter! :) I never let the number stop me.... but I had to be prepared for more than 1!

Thanks for the reply! My docs are being conservative. They dont want me to try if there is more than 1 follicle. Then again I guess they cant stop me from baby making lol. How often would you say you got one follicle? Was it rare?

Thanks again!
Rach

Wow, I never heard of only doing it if there's only one follicle.  I always got 2-5 good ones, with at least 2 being "very good".  I had multiples at the beginning of each pregnancy, which resolved to singletons.  With Bryson, there were two, then one spit, making 3, but the others didn't make it.  I read somewhere that many pregnancies (even without clomid) actually start out as multiples, but most women don't know that because just the strongest survive til the time of the first ultrasound (often not until 8-12 weeks!).  When you're being followed you will probably know more stuff much earlier.  I'd lost two of the three by 12 weeks, so I might not have ever known if I hadn't started getting u/s's at 5 weeks.  With Kaden I had another but it only made it until about 6 weeks from what I remember.  The total m/c I had the second baby was only 5 weeks and the other was 9-10 weeks but I didn't find out until about 13 weeks.  So, what was the doctor's reasoning behind not wanting you to have a multiple birth?  Generally, they consider fertility treatments successful when they result in singleton pregnancies but still, if you had twins it wouldn't be the end of the world just due to a bit of extra weight, unless there's other reasons behind it.  This is all just my opinion and I'm not a doctor...good luck!

I tried Clomid, but was unable to concieve even on Clomid while heavy.  My doctor was willing and each time I dropped 1-3 eggs, but nothing happened for us.   In the end, I pursued WLS and Changed My Life :)   We're back to trying now, 2 years later, but I have no desire to take Clomid again.  I became an emotional basketcase and hated how I felt while on it.  I would cry at a sad song on the radio and being emotional at work just didn't work for me at all.  After 4 months of that, I couldn't take anymore, not to mention the emotions tied to trying each month with no success.

Perhaps I'm not the norm, but some of us couldn't get pregnant even with Clomid, so be prepared.
