potty training
Okay so I'm looking for some advice in the potty training area.
My son is 2 1/2 and refuses to even try and go potty. If I even ask him he will , usually , slam his bedroom door at me! I've tried the stickers, books by the toilet.
I am just lost because he won't even try to go.
I'm also trying very hard to not compare him with his other friends at school. They are all going! In a few months his friends will be going to pre-school and my boy is going to be left in the toddler room... AHHHHHHH!! I know I need to stop comparing but it's sooo hard.

I had huge success with 3 of 4 my kids and one son who just refused until he was ready, once he turned 3 he did it but the more I pushed the more he refused, if he is not interested at all I would just give it some more time, I made my son wear diapers because he wasn't a big boy yet and as I said once he was ready he did it like 2 days!
Good Luck!
Good Luck!
My eldest daughter refused to potty train until she was well over 3 1/2. I swore she would be the only kindergartner in diapers! Turns out she finally did... and never had accidents after that. One day she decided to be done with diapers and made it through the night dry and all.
I have plenty of friends and acquaintances who had kids around the same age. They all seemed to potty train well before my daughter. Many of them continued to have multiple accidents and lots of bed wetting problems. My opinion is not to stress. He will do it when he's ready. Promise!!
PS- I totally understand the frustration. It SUCKS!!!

I honestly think it boils down to...when they are ready...they will do it. Some children conform better than others. My son (who was my last) was the hardest. At 2-1/2 I decided it was time...so I tried for a couple of weeks without one ounce of success. So then I decided everymorning first question out of my mouth would be "are you going to use the big boy potty today?" Every day the answer was no for about 6 months...then one he day he said "ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm yeah I think so"...never had an accident after that...LOL It was maddening because I just didn't undersand it. I knew he was smart enough to get it, he just simply would not do it. I was sure I was going to be changing his pull-ups at his senior prom...but alas...I will not be doing that...LOL
Good luck, and just kind of go with the flow. I know its hard not to compare, but try not to, as it will just run you nuts!

Yeah I know its hard not to compare I have no advice on boys at all. Nylah is almost 16 months and she uses the potty a few times a day, of course I never leave her without a diaper but she tells me when she needs to go. I think that my M&M reward really gives her incentive because she really loves M&M's and will do ANYTHING for them. Try that!
I used "trickery" or flat out lying if that's what you want to call it. With both my older boys, on thier 3rd B-day, they got new underwear with thier favorite character on them. I then proceeded to tell them that when you turn 3, you aren't allowed diaper/pullups anymore. It's against the rules and they just said Ok.
They honestly thought they weren't allowed to wear them so they just did away with them.
I had put them on the potty a few times here and there so they knew what to do and all. Riley is 2 1/2 right now. she sometimes tells me she has to go. Not always. but she does like to pee in the potty. I plan to just let her guide me for now. But if 3rd birthday rolls around and she isn't trained yet, I will do the same method. It worked for my other 2 so I am going to try again.
Good Luck!
