OT: Columbus Zoo

We are thinking about taking the kids to the Columbus Zoo next month.   Yeah they are a little young to appreciate it, but my husband and I need a break and I figured the kids would at least like looking at all the animals.  Plus they have funnel cake at the zoo.  LOL

Anyone have a good hotel rec for that area?  


Edited to add that my husband said that I'm not allowed to wear any of my U of M garb since we would be in Buckeye territory.   BWAHAHAHA    Yeah Right!   ; )  

When I go to a new area I always check out hotels at tripadvisor.com. It is real people who have stayed at the hotels and given their opinion. It saved us from staying at a no tell motel quite a few times since my husband likes to make plans and pick the cheapest hotel. My favorite hotels are Amerisuites or Comfort Suites but only if we get a discount. I'm cheap.

Check out Hotwire.com.  Get one in Worthington or Polaris.  Both are nice areas and close to the zoo.  The Columbus Zoo rocks.  I use to live 10 minutes from it back when I was right out of college.  And, it is mostly flat...which beats the hell out of the Cincinnati Zoo...that thing can be killer....

edited to add:  I forgot Dublin.  Dublin, Worthington or Polaris;)  Off of Sawmill Rd would be the closest.

I have never been to the columbus zoo but I love love our cincinnat zoo.  the hills are nothing for me now that I've dropped weight.  I hardly even noticed them.  they've opened the historic vine street enterance now and its just a fantastic zoo.

The Cincinnati zoo was rough not because of weight, but because I have two bad achilles (have had surgery on them both).  Those inclines are just right to make me cry!
