White Noise Machine

Has anyone ever used a white noise machine in their child's room to help with sleep? If so did it work out? Did your child sleep better/longer? I find Nylah sleeps 11-12 hours in the room with the air conditioner on, and read that white noise may be what she needs.

Does anyone have one they would like to sell?

Thanks for listening!!!!

Some kind of white noise helped both of my kids sleep better. To this day, my son enjoys it and he's 4. Though I am trying to do away with it and "forget" turning it on when I put him to bed. The "white noise" machine that I have is actually my alarm clock that has a setting in it for white noise. It also has nature sounds, cd player, and radio. It comes with an automatic shut-off as well. So, it doesn't necessarily play all night long... I guess when it shuts off is when the ceiling fan noise kicks in.

We're in the same boat.  Elijah slept okay with a floor fan and white noise CDs but sleeps much better with the AC/fan window unit constantly blowing loudly.  Soon it will be too cold and we'll have to remove it.  I would certainly welcome any recommendations for a white noise machine (basically static) that is loud enough and goes non-stop.

Yeah even the regular fan is not enough, I am contemplating the white noise machine but dont want to waste $50.00. But I will let you know if I find something that works.

My husband "needs" this too - he uses a fan. We have one of those tower fans in our bedroom and he just points it at the wall when it gets too cool to have it pointing on him.

So maybe there is just a simple solution like that?

Too funny because I do this same exact thing. I slept with a fan in my room for as long as I can remember. I remember going to my friends sleep over and my first question was Do you have a fan? Thinking back no wonder why the parents looked at me like I was crazy...LOL Although this does not help Nylah, I put the fan in her room, but it seems the AC is so much louder!

You can buy one at most baby stores and I'd bet even at places like Target for not too expensive. They're really worth it, and even I sleep better with them. We have one that even takes batteries for travel! I think that one was about $20. I don't remember what brand it is, but a lot of people have the exact same one. I'll look when I get home, or if I have time later online, but check Amazon and ebay... Good luck! =Donna

We don't have a special machine but Josiah does sleep with the humidifier on. We also play music for him at night... a friend of mine has a radio that she puts on a staticy am station. Maybe try that before buying one to see if it works???

Thanks!

I am going to try the static radio station tonight. My co-worker suggested this as well.
