OT - Thanks!
I just wanted to thank everyone who gave me helpful hints about going to Disney! We had a wonderful time! My 7 year old ds had a blast! I as able to find plenty of great things to eat and I even managed to loose about 5 pounds while I was there! (I think most of it was from sweating! It was over 100 with the heat index!) We can't wait to go again!
It was great being able to fit comfortably in the plane seat and on all the rides. The walking didn't kill me either! I was able to keep up the whole time!) It felt great!
There are a couple great things I learned!
Any walk up food resturant will give you a cup of ice water for no charge. Bring along the single packets of sf drink mixes to mix into the water because it kind of tastes funny. It also helped encourage my 7 year old to drink it all day.
When you eat at the resturants everything is shown as meal, but you can ask for anything as an individual item.
You can carry food in with you to all the parks! I took along homeade trail mix.
Get your Fast Passes early because they run out quickly!
Buy one of those personal hand-held fans that spray water before you go or at Walmart down there. It is about half the price. Actually, buy all your Disney stuff at Walmart or Target down in Florida. It is a lot cheaper that way!
Go on the animal safari a few different times on different days. You will see different animals each time! Or go after it rains.
Speaking of rain...it rained almost every day we were there (8 days). Usually it went away quickly, but one of the days it lasted for about 2 hours. Buy rain ponchos before going, it will be a lot cheaper. Get the ones that fold up into a little back that clips to a belt loop.
Many of the bigger rides have three different lines: one line for Fast Passes, one for "regular" (standby) riders, and one line for single riders. My son wanted to ride Test Track. There weren't any Fast Passes left and the regular line had a wait of 2 hours, but the single rider line only had a 30 minute wait. We all waited together in the single line. We were all able to go on the same string of test cars, but not the same car. It work out great!
If you are going to see the electric parade at Disney do it on the night that they have two parades. You'll get out of the park easier.
That's all I can think of right now. I hope this helps! I'll let you know if I can think of anything else!
