Not a suckie then what????
We called it a binky.
My son had his until about 15-16 months. The easiest way I found to get rid of it was to let him have it until he was ALMOST asleep - just on the very verge of it...then snuck in and took it away (I had it clipped to his jammies). In the morning when he first woke up, he could have it bac****il he really woke up and started playing...again it was clipped to him, then as he got distracted playing, I'd sneak and take it away...and he didn't get it bac****il he was going to bed, when I'd take it away again when he was almost asleep.
My DH decided at about 9-10 months that he was old enough to do w/o it...so we left home w/o it...and he stopped and bought one for him...because he was screaming the car down.
I can't believe how big he's growning already! He's sure cute!

Mom to Khaled
I don't really remember having a special name for it so I'm not sure what we'll call Jade's when she arrives. What I do remember is that to break some of my younger cousins from the habit my grandmama would cut the tip of it off. Without the tip it's not really fun or soothing to suck so they would discard it themselves. Just a thought...
