My husband is picking up a hard copy for me. They want to see me back on Friday. She didnt' give me any values over the phone but did tell me my sugar was high and asked if I had fasted. I had NOT fasted nor was I instructed too but when I got to the hospital I was told my cholesterol test might come back high because I had not fasted. No mention was made about the sugar test. I will update when I get the actual values. She did say my iron was low but didn't sound concerned. It is strange though that they want me to come back in to talk.

UGH! The values are in the reply to myself. Sorry, having computer issues.

Once you have the hard copies, you will be able to see. But if you didn't fast, the Cholestrol test won't be accurate anyways, let alone the glucose. I hate it when docs don't tell patients they need to fast. It's a waste of time and blood if you have to re-do labs over it.

Hope everything is just fine, just a little off because of not fasting.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

Ok here are my values. I am only putting the abnormal ones. Normals are show to the right.

Glucose 143 High (74-106)
BUN 24 High (7-17)

Total Bilirubin .3 Low (.5-.9)

Globulin 2.6 Low (2.9-3.5)

Phosphorus 4.3 High (2.5-4.2)

Hemoglobin 10.3 Low (11.1-15.9)

Hematocrit 32.1 Low (32.9-45.7)

MCV 74.8 Low (80.2-98.2)

MCH 24.1 Low (27.6-34.4)

MCHC 32.2 Low (33.1-36.1)

Overall I don't think they look too bad. My iron is much better now then it was in March of 07 when I had my infusion.

I don't know why the results of my metals testing are not on here. I had zinc and a bunch of others checked too.

Oh my triglycerides were 68 so I thought that was great since I had eaten and they said they might be high. Normal is 36-150

Did you have a ferritin or serum iron checked?

I assumed he did. He wrote the orders on the computer and sent them to the hospital where I had 8 vials drawn. I was supposed to get checked for metals too and I don't see that anywhere on the report. When I go in on Friday I am going to ask where the rest of my lab work is. If they didn't run them then they can do it again.

How about an A1c, which would be a better indicator of over all sugar issues?

I bet that is what is going to happen next. I don't know how my sugars can be so high. I was floating in the 60's for awhile fasting and had hypoglycemia for awhile which can be a precursor but I just lost 51.5 pounds and didnt' expect anything like this. I think it was the fact that I ate.
