MY PCM is worried b/c I have lost 5 lbs since being pregnant.I am still at 168.  My OB says now that i am 15 weeks i need to start putting on a few pounds.  I know you guys will know best. How am I doing? I am eating I promise you that it's just since being pregnant I CAN'T have sugar. I think that's why I am keeping the weight off. At what point did you guys start putting on weight? Thanks for all your help.

I had asked my NUT about this before hand and she said to eat more calorie dense foods - ie full fat cheese, less lean meats, 1% milk etc.

Sounds so strange for us post-ops to have to worry about how to GAIN weight doesn't it!? lol

Good luck!

I lost weight the first 3 months, gained weight back the 4th month, stayed the same until this past month and have put on 5lbs. Technically I'm still down 3lbs but have gained 14lbs the entire pregnancy.

So I guess the short answer to your question (for me anyways) is that I gained weight for the first time after 4 months. And then didn't gain anymore weight until 7 1/2 months.

My doc said as long as the baby is growing - he doesn't care if I lose 100lbs. (although I think he was exaggerating there!)

I have not gained any weight yet either. Thursday when I went to the doc she made a comment about "you lost a pound but it seems to have slowed down and your weight seems more stable" since then I have been able to eat 3 meals a day (not having to eat every two hours) and am suddenly able to eat more at a time then before pregnant...I was very nervous stepping on the scale this morning because of the way I have eaten this weekend (not really bad just more at a time than usual) but to my surprise I lost 3 pounds over the weekend...weird huh? I am sure I will gain at some point not really looking forward to that but as long as baby is healthy it will be worth the gain!

I still haven't gained a pound. I am down over 50lbs actually. (But I am very early post op so that makes sense.) I wouldn't worry about gaining weight as long as the baby is growing right on schedule.

I lost 53 lbs until I was eight months pregnant and gained 22 back...hehe. I don't recommend losing that much though. I was two months post-op and weighed 198 lbs when I got pregnant. I then suffered through 6 months of hyperemesis. It's pretty common to lose weight in your first trimester due to the increase in your metabolism. Try adding complex carbs to your diet..i.e.- whole grain breads, pastas, sweet potatos, or oats. If you're not lactose intolerant, try adding yogurt, milk or cheese. Don't worry it will start comin on. You could actually be losing weight and the baby could be gaining---balancing it out. Oh yeah, I leveled out before I started gaining. I stayed the same weight for four weeks.

I haven't gained any weight either.   I have lost 5 lbs also.   I don't really want to gain any weight either!   Maybe 10 lbs total. :)   My doctor said that is perfectly fine.   As long as the baby is growing she is happy.

I'm down about 15 so far.  haven't gained any.  niether my surgeon or my ob are all that concerned.  they both know I could continue to lose and may never gain.  I do eat higher fat/cal/carb now though so i think the losing may be done.

I logged on tonight because I had the exact same question!  I'll be 16 weeks in a few days and I've lost 7lbs so far.  My OB said that I should gain 2lbs between 12 and 16 weeks and instead it looks like I've lost 3 lbs.  But on the otherhand, my OB said that as long as the baby is growing, I probably only have to gain 10 lbs for the whole pregnancy.  She'd prefer to see 15lbs to 25lbs, but its the baby's growth that counts.

I'm glad to hear some other folks are further along and doing well with little weight gain, because I'm wondering if I'll ever start gaining.  I'm trying to eat six times a day - if that's not enough to gain, I don't know what to do - eat constantly?

OMG!  I hate everyone here! LOL!  I've gained 15 lbs in 19 weeks.  UGH.  Granted, it's twins but STILL!  I gained 50 in my last pregnancy and got pregnant 4.5 months post op.

You girls are fine!!  I wish MY weight would slow down...I'm constantly ravenous and eat everything in sight these days.  I think I ate an entire medium (cracker thin crust) hawaiian pizza in 24 hours.  I'm so gonna need Richard Simmons when these babies pop out!

Good job ladies...I'm jealous!
