Low iron - did you know this?
Anemia can cause all kinds of symptoms. My 9 yr old son has a Generic blood disorder called Beta-Thalissimia and his iron will always be low, no matter the amount of iron, vitamins or red meats he eats. We recently went to his Hematologist/Oncologist for labs and his Iron came back at 7, which explained why he is having horrible headaches several times a week. I thought he was having mirgaines, since i have them bad.
WOW! We found out he had it when he was 2 yrs old. They initially checked him for Leukemia. He bruises badly, gets tired easily. My husband has it as well. They plan on checking Miss Blaze when she is born.
We have been educated that this comes from a Mediteranean, Greek background? My Husband is not as far as we know, but he is dark skinned for a white boy,LOL
Are you greek? etc.....

Yes, it is of Mediteranean origin. And I have no idea where in my background that would be. LOL I am not aware of anything but who knows. My doc said it could be pretty far back.
I wasn't diagnosed until I was 28. I grew up always taking iron because I was "anemic". Finally my family doc said he thought there had to be something else going on, and sent me to hematologist for further testing.
