Hospital Bag?!?

I have 20 days left (maybe less, maybe more, who knows!)

I had my second baby shower yesterday (pictures will be uploaded tonight) and have EVERYTHING (literally) for Drew. All that is left is to finish decorating his nursery - which will be done this weekend and I have to pack my hospital bag.

This is where my problem comes in - this is my first child and I have NO idea what I'm going to need and/or want in my hospital bag. So what were your ladies essentials? And things that you didn't think of but will remember if you have another go around?

Thanks for all your help!

My biggest thing I think I appreciated the most was my OWN pillow!  Of course toiletries, and comfy clothes to wear home.  For him, you will want a  basic diaper bag, with an outfit for him to wear home, and maybe a spare one.

*pillow
*lounge pants/sweats
*toiletries
*cameras/battieres
*chargers for cells, cameras, etc.
*change/dollar bills (for vending machines!)
*outfit for Drew and receiving blanket to cover him for going home
*hairties....you will want to pull your hair back!
*change of clothes for your "sweetie" so if it's a late night delivery or he needs to freshen up.
*tooth brush for him too

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

Shauna,

For my first I packed a bunch of junk I didnt need LOL so this time I am simplifying. An outfit for me, an outfit for baby, travel size shampoo, conditioner, soap, hair brush/ties and CHAPSTICK (must have). They do supply the washes but it dosent smell that fabulous. They have everything for baby (formula, diapers, wipes, so I wouldnt pack that unless you are planning to go somewere other than home when you leave). They also give you a bag with tylenol, stoll softeners, lotion a few others I cant remember (well my hospital did I am sure yours would give something). ADVICE: TAKE THE STOOL SOFTENERS - especially if you deliver vaginally, be much more comfortable for your first BM. Some people will say slippers but honestly I prefered the sock slippers they give besides I was hot and really wanted flip flops. Sorry I wrote a book! Vanessa

The things I wished I had and had to have someone bring me was...  my own pillow (I agree with you on that one) and soft wash cloths. The hospitals were very nice... after 19 hrs of labor and him crowning for 2.5 hrs (he got stuck) and THEN a c-section.....  I was very sore.   Just my two cents  :-)

Three things I can't live w/o, whether it's at the hospital or just traveling in general:

my own pillow
lip balm
hand lotion

All the other things are nice...comfy clothes, take home clothes for the baby, etc...but if you ever want to torture me...take a way those three things.

Time's flying!  Before you know it, you'll be holding Drew in your arms!
