Pregnancy Before Goal

If my labs look good next month I will be given the all clear to start TTC.  Having healthy babies is the number one reason I had this surgery...but I am still about 50 pounds from goal.  I've waited so long to have a child that I don't want to post-pone getting pregnant but have been told by others who had babies after WLS that after their pregnancies it seemed like any benefits from their WLS were gone and losing weight was very hard.

Did anyone else get pregnant so far from goal?  Were you able to continue losing after your pregnancy?

I got pregnant with my daughter 30-40lbs from goal.  That was over 3 yrs ago.  I've not even gotten all of that pregnancy weight off, much less made any additional headway.

I'd really wait until you're closer to goal -- but that's really up to you.  If you don't continue to lose afterwards, how would you feel?

Months ago I said that if I never lost another pound I would still be thrilled with my results but now that things have slowed down it kind of bothers me...but having a child/children would be worth it completely.

Honestly - I think you're going to get a variety of answers here. Some people are able to lose the baby weight immediately while others struggle. I have no experience as I have not had my child yet but I was 60lbs from goal when I found out I was pregnant.

If you're worried about reaching goal - the logical thing to do is wait until you're at it, or closer to it. After all it will make for an easier pregnancy as well.

Good luck!

I got pregnant 63 lbs from goal, continued losing during pregnancy and made goal two months after Niko was born.

You will get a variety of answers on this. Your tool will still be there after the baby.

I too got pregnant 50lbs from goal (and 10 months post op) , gained 20lbs that pregnancy and lost it all immediately after I had my daughter.  3 months after she was born I got pregnant again, gained 20lbs and lost it all right after I had her. She is now almost 9 months old and the scale hasn't moved in the right direction.  I am now 65lbs from goal and truely wish things would have worked out differently though I would't change what has happened.  If given the choice (I was on bc when I got preggo) I would have waited until I was at goal and further out....but we play the hand we are given :)
