Remedies for a cough

Anyone have home remedies for a cough?   I don't want to take Robitussin or any other meds because it's a personal choice while pregnant.   So spare me the, "I took this or that and my baby is just fine."   I'm sick and cranky so forgive me, or not.  LOL

I saw some of the craziest things surfing the net last night, i.e., gargle with warm spinach water or drink boiling hot milk with ice cold coke.   Double yarf!

One more thing, I don't like tea so that's out.

Ride it out...or cough drops.  I have heard of the warm sal****er..but ummm- nope I can't think of anything else.  I had a nasty, nasty cough with a sinus infection and I know I had to just let it pass...my sides hurt from coughing so much.  Rest all you can with 9 month old twins, and most of all feel better soon.
PS- I would never do any of the aboved mentioned internet things. YUCK!  I'd rather cough a lot.

Warm Honey. It helps a little, but better than nothing.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

Sounds crazy, but it works: Vicks Vapo Rub slathered on the bottom of your feet and then put on a nice thick pair of socks.  Great for bedtime too - plus rub a bit on your chest and throat (or use the baby vapo rub for that area).

Hope you feel better soon!

Hugs,

My 9 year old does that every time he gets a cold and swears it works. I never tried it personally but know I don't hear him hacking all night when he is sick.....

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

I have personally never tried it but heard that hot tea and honey work.  At least it is natural and you can get decaf tea.  I hope you start to feel better soon!

These are what I do.... (Moroccan Mom and Grandma and have plenty of weird ones to add if interested....lol)

Pure Honey, if you have it, warmed and mixed with lemon juice...about a tablespoon of honey and tsp of lemon juice. Take every few hours.

Boil 1-2 cloves of garlic in Olive Oil until soft, mash the garlic and mix into about a tablespoon of olive oil...bon appetit!

You can take a wash cloth or hand towel, place in ho****er and make a steam compress....add to it some Vicks or comparable vapo rub and wrap around your throat. Leave for about 15 minutes or until cooled.

That is all I have...or at least ones that I have personally tried and have worked.
