Just had positive pregnancy test
So I am onlty 7 months post op and I just had a positive pregnancy test. I am very scared about problems occuring with the baby and nutrition and all that stuff. Anyone else been in this boat?
I already have 3 wonderful children, 3, 5 and almost 7. I had a miscarriage last year at almost 5 months and thought we were done having children. Any advice?
Thanks!

Don't take it personally if you don't get a ton of responses (who knows, maybe you will) but we get this question almost everyday, so sometimes it takes a bit for somebody to answer... you might search through past posts, I promise it won't take long before you find this exact question about 50 times. Not trying to be rude. I think I asked it too at one point... Congrats on your miracle.
Congrats on your pregnancy. I hope you have a happy and healthy 9 months.
Re what to do...take your vitamins (see if your dr recommends prenatals or if the ones you're taking are OK...depends on what you're already taking), and make sure you're not in ketosis (ie...only eating protein)...if you are, immediately start eating at least a little bread/crackers etc into your diet.
Good luck!

Right now. No, really. Seriously, I mean *right now*.
Get up. Go to the kitchen. Get a piece of bread. Nosh on it. REALLY! Bread is now a recommended part of your postop diet. Dive in.
Vitamins aren't the most worrisome issue with an early postop pregnancy -- ketosis due to rapid weight loss is. Make sure you are getting at least 100g of carbs in a day. Try to make better choices than Wonder Bread, but you catch my drift.
Other than that, make an appt with your nut, with your surgeon (and ask for a letter explaining dumping syndrome for your OB -- trust me, you'll need this around 24 weeks), and your OB. You aren't necessarily higher risk -- but you do need a full vitamin draw now, and expect a mini draw to check iron, ferritin, b-12, etc. every 8 weeks. Also, if you start vomitting, start taking b1 immediately -- b1 will deplete very quickly in postop RNY patients that vomit greatly.
