Shower Update
Thanks for all the replies to my "Shower Dilemma" post from a few days ago.
So, I've talked things over with my husband and then with my MIL, during separate conversations. I was honest with them both about my concern about where to "draw the line" when it comes to adding to the list of guests for the baby shower my in-laws are hosting for us.
I think I've come up with a resolution that I can live with: The aunt who asked to be invited, her husband, and my mother will all be added to the shower guest list....and that's it. Although I do feel it was somewhat rude for my aunt to ask to be invited, the truth is I feel she simply wants to be included. I am very close to her and her husband (my uncle). Honest to goodness, I have more of a child/parent relationship with them than I do with my own parents. (Loooong story there!) All involved know this. That is why I realized that I really do WANT my aunt and uncle at the shower...even though it isn't "typical" for a man to be there. For the record, my uncle would look great in a dress if he wants to "fit in." My mom is also invited. I will ask all three to keep it on the down-low and not advertise the fact (to friends and family in my hometown) that they are attending the shower my in-laws are hosting.
So, that's the update. Thanks for all the great advice to my original post.
