Hello..... I am 5 years post op from a DS -- I went off my birth control pills last month thinking it would take about 6 months or so and bam.....the test was positive.....

So now I am tired, and while I am happy I am going to have a baby at the same time I am nervous, and worried about how this will change my life....
I know I went off my pills but I am a bit floored if that makes any sense......

Anyway I know this sounds selfish but I am worried how this will affect my weight.  I lost a bunch of weight, from 400 to 235, but have stabalized at 260 for the last few years....
Anyone have any advice???  Also I am low on vit D which worries me as well.....

Thanks for the support.....

Hi and Congratulations!

I'm not yet pg so I'm not sure I have a lot of advice, but if your D is low, you should be able to supplement? You'll want to get in touch with the dr's to see what else they recommend you take, as you will need Folic Acid for sure..

I bet others will have more advice for you!

Congratulations on your pregnancy.  I hope you have a happy and healthy 9 months.

Re your vits...If you know your vitamin D is low, you can use supplements - I take Bariatric Advantage, and I know there are other brands out there that are OK.  I'd suggest talking to your dr and having a full lab done to make sure everything else is OK, and as the previous person suggested...take folic acid.

LOL Welcome to the club! I went off my pills and thought it would take a few months too. That was in April and I am now 7 weeks along. We used other forms for a month, at my gyn's suggestion, and so the first month we tried my hubby started singing "My boys swim!!!"

I just had a full blood workup and was told I am a little low in D. The APRN told me they defere to the OB since that is their speciality.

I don't think anyone here would criticize you about the weight gain worry. I know I wouldn't.

Good luck with it all. I know they women here are very helpful with questions.

I shall now be know as Hagatha: Queen of the queens.

After having had my surgery and getting pregnant, having a baby 16 months ago....stay active.  Walk, Walk, and Walk some more.  I was seriously anemic, no energy, no exercise.  My biggest regret is that I was not more active hence I gained weight.  My ob told me later that if I were to get pregnant again, he would do iron infusions earlier in the pregnancy.

So stay active, eat right and take your vitamins.  It will make life easier (in regards to weight) after the baby is born.

Congrads!
