Stool softners or fibers
So ever since I have become pregnant I have been soooo constipated. I have a BM like once a week and I feel like i am going to die. It's painful, crampy, and miserable. I have up'ed my water, fiber, and even drinking apples juice. I don't know what else to do? I am going to call my Dr. on Tuesday when they open but i was just wondering what all of you do? Thanks

Ask you doctor about supplementing with Magnesium Citrate. You will go within an hour of taking a dose of that. It draws water into the bowels. I don't know if it is safe to take during pregnancy though, so check !
The one think I can recommend to try is first thing in the morning, drink something hot hot hot. As hot as you can stand it. Hot tea, hot coffee, hot herbal tea, etc. Drink it down fairly quickly while its hot and if you are able, before you eat anything (if your blood sugar/nausea allows that).. The tea will relax your bowels, draw in the liquid and help your bowels move.
That ALWAYS works for me and for others that I have recommended it to. I hope it works for you---being bound up is terrible at ANY time. Being that way and pregnant, that is miserable. :c(

I have been there! I hit my fiber goal now thanks to the 9g of fiber bars such as Fiber and Omega. If I were you I would eat one in the morning and one in the evening, have a Fiber One yogurt with lunch 5 grams, eat a salad with your lunch and dinner 3g and switch to Aunt Millies Fiber for life 35 calorie bread 3g. These products work better for me then fiber pills and just eating fruit and nuts did. Pistachios worked for me for years but I would eat 700 calories worth of them and I can't do that now. If you want to go right away I would use the glycerine suppository only AFTER you ask your doctor. Good luck and happy pooping!!!
I eat two cartons of Activia and something from fiber one every day. I wouldn't reccomend the mag citrate unless you are getting sick from not going and you don't drink the whole bottle. Check with your doctor too about it. I told my WLS surgeon I took some and he just laughed when I said I never knew you could have that much poo in you. Oh and if you take it and drink the whole bottle, clear your day for at least 24 hours. That's how long I was on the potty.
