Plastic Surgery before Pregnancy or After?
I was wondering I am fairly new to my journey just had my surgery June 17th 2009. I am going to be 30 years old this September. I am married to a great guy and he is 35. Now we have no children and would like to have a baby in the near future. Obviously after our 2 year wait from me having my surgery. My question is..should I have Plastic surgery before I decide to have a baby or after I have a baby? I plan on trying when my surgeon says it is okay for me to start trying. However I was wondering because if my skin is really bad I would want to have plastic surgery and I was curious what others thought or if anyone has been through this. Thanks.
Denise.
Denise.
I'm waiting until after - I don't want to risk stretching out scars or getting NEW stretch marks due to the pregnancy. Since I had extra skin to work with for this pregnancy, I haven't developed a single stretch mark.

Hi Denise....
Congratulations on your recent surgery....WOOOO HOOOO....
I think it is different for everyone and for various reasons....I actually had a tummy tuck before I had a baby....a few reasons....my pani was horrible and it hung very low on my thighs....I ended up having 30+ pounds removed with the excess skin...I knew I wanted to have a baby too but thought this was best for me as I did not want to have my pani that bad and be pregnant....so it was best for me....I did feel tightening when I was pregnant due to the tightness but nothing drastic....after I am done having kids I may consider a tightening up again....we will see....
Good luck to you....
Ann

Denise,
I really think it depends on how unhappy you are with your extra skin. I met with a plastic surgeon about breast implants with a lift. He strongly suggested I wait until after I was done having babies before having it done. My stomach has some extra skin, but not enough to really effect my daily living. Like Dev said I didn't get any new stretch marks from pregnancy.
Good luck on your weight loss journey!

Hi Denise!
I am four years post-op from my plastics, and am 38 weeks pregnant. My doctor told me that after my TT, carrying could possibly be more uncomfortable, and to be totally honest, I don't see myself as any more uncomfortable than the "normal/regular" women around me. Yes, things are cramped, yes, I'm out of room! But, doesn't everyone feel that way at this point? I don't have any new stretch marks, but I will need to have my breasts re-done after we're done having kids in a few years. It's all part of the journey for me, I guess. I think it just depends on where you are in life ... I had the TT and lift with implants because I was single and younger ... now? I would wait.

I would wait. I had a ancor cut TT in 05 and had a pefect stomach. The only reason I got it was because I thought I was done having kids. Well then I left my husband and met someone else, and here I am 21weeks PG with twins. So far so go as far as comfort I don't think my stomach will get as big. I have alot of strerch marks. But if I could have I would have waited till after before I had it done.
