Stomach bug/colic/something else?
Help! Everett's had terrible diarrhea since Monday. The NP saw him on Tuesday and said his belly was making a lot of noise and he appeared to have a stomach bug and cramping. No fever, usual amount of spit up/projectile, but EXTREMELY irritable and not sleeping more than 20 minutes a few times a day. Tylenol gets him to sleep about 3 hours at night.
There is very little I can do that seems to soothe him. I'm calling the pediatrician tomorrow as I really feel this isn't just a stomach bug. No vomiting, other than the usual spit up reflux stuff.
Any ideas? Anyone else been through this?
TIA,

Poor baby and Mommy. that's a tough one. Make sure he's getting enough fluid. Definetley call the ped.

Oh, and I'm probably gonna get zinged for this , but you could try a teaspoon of barley cereal in a three ounce bottle. It works for loose stools. Don't do it all the time, but it may help him not go constantly.

I don't have any advice on what could be wrong...but it's definitely worth calling the pedi and just let him know what's happening. I'd guess if he's sleeping w/the Tylenol, he must be in pain/discomfort that the Tylenol's easing for him to rest...but obviously you don't want to keep him drugged up...and you want to know what the problem is. If the pedi can't see him because of the holiday, if it gets worse, I'd consider taking him to the ER. I assume the ER would have a pedi on staff/call wouldn't they? I'm sure you know the deal by now...just keep him hydrated...and follow your instincts. If you think it's more than just a bug, get it checked out.
