Ok give your opinions like it, love it can't nurse without it, hate it or doesn't really matter! I am thinking I really want one and just wanted to get some opinions! I looked at one at a consignment shop yesterday BUT unzipped the cover and was horrified at the nasty stains on it! so just thought I would ask here before paying full price for one!
TIA

Beth,

It definetly makes it easier if you are nursing to have one. Your arms are going to get tired.  I think that they make covers to go over your boppy so you can wash them.  You might find a regular pillow might work just as well as the boppy.

Others may disagree but I LOVE it and not just for nursing.  My husband uses it for bottle feeding.  We placed it in our laps when he napped in our arms.  He also liked sitting on it while in our laps, facing out.  He sat up in it starting around three months.  Now he drags it around and uses it as a stepping stool to get to things he's not supposed to.  We have three covers.  We wash the boppy in the washing machine and toss it in the dryer, so it's stayed in very good shape (and it was used from my sister).  I would have brought it to the hospital when he was born had I known how much I would love it.  I've given it as shower gifts and definitely something I would purchase for myself.

Hi Beth,

You know the Boppy was one thing I KNEW I wanted -- and wanted new.  (I agree - used ones disgusted me, just the idea!)

So I got one.... I've used....hrm....twice?  In the recliners in the living room the arm of the chair is plenty high/soft for me to use and the Boppy in the recliner actually puts the baby up too high.   In the rocking chair in the bedroom (wooden rocker) the Boppy puts the baby's head even with the hard wooden arms of the chair and if he wiggles too much he bumps his head on the wood!  So I just keep him in my lap.

I know my sister-in-law used hers all the time for breast feeding.....but I find the easiest way for me to breastfeed is either in the recliner (see above regarding boppy and the recliner) or laying in bed.... no Boppy needed as I am propped up on pillows and baby is laying on the bed!

To each their own....  I bet you'll get some different opinions.

I have one. I use it occasionally. It is from my sister so it was free. I didn't breast feed with Riley and am not with Janzen either, but we like it to lay him in and prop him up a little to look around, etc. Also when big sister (2.5 years) wants to feed him, I prop him in that and let her hold the bottle.

Could I live without it? Yup

But it does get used even though it isn't for breast feeding reasons.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

I like them!  I bottle feed my kiddos but, still use the Boppy.  It has many other uses other than just for BF'ing.  I think it's a good investment!

I used mine all the time with Zoe and plan to with this little guy. I think it gives so much more support than a pillow (what I used for my son 10 years ago.) Like the others said you can also do so many other things with it. I got mine used but it was very clean and I bought a new cover for it. Now I need to go buy another cover for it in blue, hoping I get one at the baby shower. Overall I think it's a great investment.

When Sophie was small (weeks to about 3/4 months) my husband would use it to feed her a bottle.  I know people won't agree with this..but DH could prop the bottle while she was in it...(my husband has had several surgeries on his hands / wrist and literally can't tolerate holding the baby very long or holding a bottle).  As she got older / bigger we found she likes her bouncy chair.  We also had the bobby lounger which is great, but only for a very short period of time in the beginning (probably up to 2 months).  Keep an eye out for other brands of them...(i.e. target)..I got mine there for 12 or 15.00 new.  Actually I think it was still a boppy but one that had one of their designers covers...I would say keep an eye out for a good one used too..most people don't get them stained and nasty...maybe they had that one for years and used it with multiple kids and never washed it...YUCK. Our local consignment shop would have never accepted it.  Good luck on your hunt.

Besides BF'ing, I would put it on the floor and put my little one on it on her tummy for tummy time.  It would bring her up off of the floor, and I could put toys in front of her.  I think it gave her a different perspective (especially when they don't have the arm strength to lift themselves up!).
