Yummy Omelete....Looks Easy Enough
This is so cool! How do people come up with these clever ideas?
ZIPLOC OMELET
(This works great !!! Good for when all your family is together. The best part is that no one has to wait for their special omelet !!!)
Have guests write their name on a quart-size Ziploc freezer bag with permanent marker.
Crack 2 eggs (large or extra-large) into the bag (not more than 2) shake to combine them.
Put out a variety of ingredients such as: cheeses, ham, onion, green pepper, tomato, hash browns, salsa, etc..
Each guest adds prepared ingredients of choice to their bag and shake. Make sure to get the air out of the bag and zip it up.
Place the bags into rolling, boiling water for exactly 13 minutes [we did 15 minutes]. You can usually cook 6-8 omelets in a large pot. For more, make another pot of boiling water.
Open the bags and the omelet will roll out easily. Be prepared for everyone to be amazed.
Nice to serve with fresh fruit and coffee cake; everyone gets involved in the process and a great conversation piece.
Imagine having these ready the night before, and putting the bag in boiling water while you get ready. And in 15 minutes, you've got a nice omelette for a quick breakfast ! ! ! !! ! If anyone is brave enough to try this let us know how it works out...
My SO has three child from previous relationships - the oldest (a boy) is 17, the middle (a girl) is 15, and the youngest (a girl) is 10. The 10 year old comes to our house every other weekend (and sometimes more so in the summer) however the older two - being the teenagers that they are would rather spend weekends at friends and what not. We have gotten them to agree to come one night/morning a month - so that we are all together. We do this every time they come. They absolutely love it and it's soooo easy. We don't do the boiling method though. I use the Ziploc Microwave Steamer bags - works the same and I can rinse them out and use them again.
But it's definitely fun for the little ones - the teenagers even get into it - and it does save because we can eat all together.

I did this last week because I remember seeing this on here a while back. I dont like the texture of eggs when you cook them in a pan. So I tried this and I love it. They are moist and easy, etc. My only problem was the bag kinda melted on the edges cause it would tilt over and lean on the pot. But the eggs were still delish!
The first I made these I used the boiling method (before I discovered the microwave bags) - try using a baggy clip to clip all the bags together so they don't lean over the side. That's what I did and it worked perfectly.
And you're so right - the moisteness and texture of the egg is so much than when it's fried.
