Hello ladies -

I am 5 weeks +3 days preggo :)  Yeah!  But I have been having the intense pain in my stomach and my back after I eat.  I went to my GP and he ran some tests and everything came back fine.  I went to my OB and she said everything seems fine. They basically said that it is my changing body and that because I usually cannot vomit without inducing it that instead of having morning sickness like everyone else ... I may not be able to get rid of it ... and it can cause pain.  So yesterday, I had intense stomach issues ... I am really thinking that it is gas :(  It was causing my low back to be spasming :(  But I think that possible I have turned lactose interolerent...before pregnancy I could eat and drink milk with a bubbley tummy that would produce room clearing smells .. (hehe to husband) but all I can think is yesterday I had cream tomato soup at lunch and than it hurt and felt better and a couple of bites of my son's ice cream and holy cow!  Than a few hours later I felt better ... decided to eat a little something ... a 3 triskets and a small slice of packaged cheese.  Oh yeah!  tummy pain again... so I think that I experiencing lactose issues ... Have any of you ladies experienced something like this?

On the pregnancy side I have not had any menstrual type cramping and no spotting... and temp is still up.  So I really don't feel that baby is any danger ...

I don't know what to do .... I am going to stay away from milk ... I guess :(

I can't say I had these issue related to WLS...but I was very sick once in college and then a few weeks later started to notice that I had horrible stomach pains...narrowed it to lactose issues.. Went to see a GI Dr who told me after illness sometimes our bodies develop allergies to things..I had developed a lactose allergy and literally would feel like I was dying if I ate it, even days later.  Ugh.
WLS related I can tell you that my tolerance changes with pregnancy- sometimes I can tolerate things that would have made me ill before, and then a few weeks later I eat it and wish I was dead. Example: cereal.  I also get extremely bloated and gassy if I eat things that press my limits.  Gas and bloating is part of the first trimester for a lot of woman.  My Dr approved my use of Gas X..it helps even when my tummy is just grouchy- that said; I have maybe used it 3 times during my pregnancy.  Just a thought too...tomato soup is loaded with sugar.  Good luck! Hope your better soon.

I normally don't have a problem eating sugar but maybe that could be it ... I have heard of ladies with the RNY having more of  a problem eating things with sugar more so during pregnancy.  I don't know ... it just sucks :(  I wish I could narrow it down ... because I just wouldn't eat it :)

Thanks for your response :)

About 5-6 weeks preggo for me, I developed severe stomach pain.  My pain was centralized to the area around my belly button.  I was in maternity pants by 6 weeks.  That helped, I can not eat if there is anything restricting about my belly.  Good Luck

I am 7 weeks today (Wednesday) and I can tell you that is what happens to me if I have morning sickness and eat. I get horrible pains for about 30 to 60 minutes. If I keep food in the tummy I don't have morning sickness.

It could also be lactose issues.

Good luck with figuring out what it is.

Not sure how far along I am, having ultrasound next week to help find out.  I'm thinking 5-6 weeks.  I noticed I've been getting some pain high up in the stomach, then the rumbling starts.  I can't seem to stop burping.

I was fine after RNY with sugar and then I got pregnant and soon as I found out I couldn't!! I can eat some fruity sugar stuff but anything choc. OH LORD we have a problem. I puke puke puke!! So sugar is a no no. Pregnancy does all kinds of things to your body so watch what you eat if you get sick from foods you were used to eat/drinking it's a no no during pregnancy! Talk to your OB also. Hope things get better soon!

If eliminating lactose-based products doesn't help, it may be worth exploring the possibility of acid reflux w/your Dr. OTC Zantac and or Rx Protonix can help, with OB approval first of course.

I hope you find relief soon!
