havent bought one baby item yet??
I havent bought one baby item yet. Nothing.. Someone gave me some sleepers and bibs. But besides that. NOTHING. Im bascially starting over and my family ( my mother) told me there will be NO baby shower for me. Because i am on my third child. :( Did anyone buy anything early? Im about 12 weeks. I feel like we are gonna be running around last minute with nothing done. Baby wont have anything!!! HELP ME to CALM DOWN!! lol
I am 28 weeks and have about four items that I have purchased, and two boxes that someone sent me, but I don't even have them in my house, they are in my Mom's garage. I am strange about the whole thing, I just don't feel comfortable having it in the house. I plan to place an order with Target the morning I leave for the hospital so that by the time I get home the stuff will be here.
You have plenty of time. But this is the time of year to get some great deals on used things. I didn't ask for or buy any "bigger" things because I know within a month of him being born there would be Yard Sales everywhere.
I got a portible bassinet for 8 bucks. It folds up and goes in car easily. We've used it alot so far.
I got a Jump-A-Roo for 25 bucks. I wanted one of these really bad but wasn't paying 100 bucks. I can't wait till he is big enough to use it.
I got a bunch of other stuff too.........I love yard sales!

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!
I didn't buy anything but cute onesies - still haven't actually. Everything I have is from my shower, my best friend (Drew's godmom) and my mother. You have tons of time though. My mom told me not to go overboard buying things, because the first 3 months - all they need are onesies, sleepers, diapers, wipes, burp clothes, receiving blankets, a place to sleep and bottles. The rest can come with time. Of coarse I want everything right now - but financially - that's not even close to being possible. I'm thankful that my mother bought my travel system and my father bought my crib and changing table. So don't stress - all will be good. And Jodi is right - yard sales are amazing.
And btw - just my opinion but I think it's total crap that you're not getting a baby shower because it's you're third child. To me, a baby shower is about celebrating the life of this new baby - why is s/he being punished because they weren't born first. If I lived closed to you in PA - I would throw you a baby shower! Maybe you should do up a little registry for friends and family anyways because I'm sure there are others that feel the same as I do.

I think you are fine without buying yet..I believe I waited until 25-30 weeks to register and get things...got onsies, etc here or there when on sale. I agree whole heartly it's mean not to celebrate your child's coming to the world. Maybe they should hold a "sprinkle" it's party like a shower but usually aimed at parents that may have some things. I held a shower for my sister for her third because she had her last later in her life (her other kids are almost 16 and the other is 19) So she had nothing from before. And I live close enough to help with a party!
I'm 15 weeks, and I've bought 2 items so far - a Bumbo seat and a Medela pump. The Bumbo was cheap on Craigslist in orange, which is relatively hard to find, and the pump was at a garage sale for $20. We're definitely starting over, since DD is 12! There will be a shower, but I want most stuff to be second-hand, so I'm not sure we'll register for much...
Just remember, we have plenty of time, so lots of chances for bargains!

I bought a used Eddie Bauer Bassinet (the really nice wooden ones) for half price from a lady at work prolly the week after we found out we were pregnant. Then Me and my Mom went yard sale-ing and I bought a car seat brand new with a base for 7 bucks! I also plan on cloth diapering so I bought a whole box of flannel recieving blankets to use in various ways and I also got two very cute neutral baby gowns...My husband got on Babies R Us last night and set up our registry information...too cute...he is really into all the baby stuff so it is great for him to be so excited about doing the little stuff...
I was nervous about buying stuff but my husband said "if we don't get to use it this time we will eventually use it" so that made me feel better about getting stuff...

(personally I have to space stuff out so I can afford things but my MIL is crazy excited and will prolly buy anything we don't get from the shower)
