Miscarriage - next period question

I know you all can't predict this but to those that didn't have a D&C or D&E, when did your period come back? I bled for 14 days, had contractions and horrific bleeding and passed the baby and sac all in one. I know they say your period should come back within 4 - 6 weeks. Is that from when you stopped bleeding or started bleeding?

I had five blood tests to watch my HCG levels and finallly last week my numbers were >5. So, my body is finally "not pregnant". Now, I just want to figure out when I should expect my period? We are going on vacation to the Caribbean in the middle of July and I feel that I am going to be blessed with AF while on my vacation!!!

Hi Traci,

Liz had the same question almost a week ago and this was my response....

Hi Liz,

I began spotting on May 12th but really started bleeding on May 13th.  I had the same question a few weeks back.  On May 29th I had a drs appointment (follow up with OB) and he told me that I could expect my period in 3-4 more weeks.  Well he was pretty dead on. I awoke this morning with some light, really light spotting, went and did my school bus run and low and behold 2 hours later I need a change of undergarments, I should have wore a pad this morning.  LOL  I thought I would have a day of spotting, but nope.  Anyway excited that Aunt Flo has indeed arrived (so is hubby, but I think he is just glad that the crankiness is really going to buzz off for awhile now...hehehe or that he is excited that we can now officially try again).  I too had a blighted ovum and really hope that I do not have to go through it again.  I suffer from PCOS and we have been ttc for 15 years now.  My recent pregnancy was my first, I was almost giving up hope as I turn 37 this summer and was feeling that I was getting too old.  Hopefully this month things will happen and we get pregnant again right off and this time things will go off with out a hitch.  Good luck with everything next round and I will be lurking in and out (more in than out) often.

Hope this helps.

So from doing counting, it was about 5-6 weeks after your miscarriage.

Thanks for the response. I had read Liz's question but I was just curious if it was different from those going through a D&C and those actually going through the miscarriage on their own.

Your next period should come 4-6 weeks after your miscarriage regardless of how long the bleeding lasted.

Yea, that sounds about right...4-6 weeks...... unless you're like me and get pregnant right away after the miscarriage! LOL Yea, I did...& that child is now 8 years old!

I have learned to not get my expectations up, because I will be disappointed. I know that I am not in control of this. I did, as well as you and others on this board, everything you are supposed to do when you get pregnant, and lost the baby. So, it is up to a higher power.

I liked that I was pretty regular when I got off the pill so I could still determine when I would start. With this, I just don't have a clue and I really don't want to be on a romatic vacation in the south Carribean and be on my period!

I hope your bleeding stops soon!!!
