Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, body wash, lotion, etc) Hospital usually has these things for you; but I prefer my own.

2 sets of Jammies, lounge sets or something comfy.

Pillow....bring your own pillow. Thiers are awful.

Hair ties if you have longer hair.

Camera, cell phone and chargers for any and all electronics you take.

For baby......going home outfit, receiving blanket, hat/cap and that should be it. You use thier diapers, wipes, formula, etc while in hospital.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

Pretty much everything that Jo said but I also packed Matthew outfits for wearing there.  I didn't want him just hanging around all day long in a little t-shirt and diaper.  So I packed several preemie outfits and various kinds of paci's for him.  I also packed my dh's stuff....clothes, deo, anything that he normally uses if he's going to be staying with you.  Plenty of cash for vending machines..at least my dh kept them in business the 4 days we were there.  I didn't like wearing their gowns when I knew company was coming up so I would change into my own gown or pj's.  Their gowns all have nursing slits in them and if your not careful your boob will be hanging out and you'll be giving your guests a peep show and you won't know it...LOL

I didn't BF so I packed several tight sports bras that I wore 24/7 while there.

Oh yeah.....Don't forget DH. LOL. I packed Johnny toiletries, and change of clothes. He was allowed to shower in my bathroom in my room. Not sure how your hospital is, but it was a huge help after being up half the night.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

What I actually needed....
Toothpaste (I am very particular about my toothpaste)
Hair brush
Hair ties
Camera
Clothes to go home in
Flip flops
Chapstick

Then of course your babies stuff.

I used the hospitals toiletries they provided, it was just easier.  I wore their gowns because they were the best for nursing.  I ate their food cause it was actually really good and they would cook what ever I wanted.

i actaully would take your own wipes for the baby. Both hospital my kids were born in. My son was born 2000 in honolulu, hi and my daugter 2005 in pa.  they both had this horrible paper towel like wipes you had to wet!! They were gross and like sand paper on their little newbor heiny!!

I would take wipes and i also took my ipod.. I needed it at night. there were women in labor!! SCREAMING!!!

ohh chapstick and socks,

Ohhh, packing the bag is so exciting. It means your baby is almost here! The pp's had great suggestions. What I actually used:

-Lots of underwear (they give you these disposable ones that feel like you're wearing a crinkly hair net)
-Front clasp or nursing bra
-2 sets of PJ's
-Cell phone & charger
-SF gum or mints
-Slippers
-Camera
-Chapstick
-Toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, mousse, body wash, deoderant)
-A couple outfits for baby and a receiving blanket

FYI: the hospital Pharmacy didn't carry all of the supplements I needed. I called ahead and brought the ones they didn't stock.

Hugs,

Jo

Ha Ha! I LOVE the mesh panties. They fit perfectly over my huge, malformed gut....... post birth, and I didn't have to worry about staining my own from over flowing "the depends" they give you to wear.

Ahhhh, the memories!
