1. Do/did  you use special baby detergent on your baby laundry? I used Dreft before but am undecided this go around!

I bought one bottle fo Dreft and later bought the Target off brand but now just use our detergent but still wash all Emad's clothes separate.

2. Nursing bras- what is your favorites and why and where did you get them? did you get sleeping ones too?

I got some from Wal Mart that actually worked well for me and otherwise used sports bras. Nothing separate for night time/

3. Did you buy a special gown for the hospital or just wear the pretty ones they offer?

I debated getting a nursing gown but in the end used the hospital ones and glad I did because I did have leaking. I took some comfy pants and one pair of pjs and a robe but did not use til leaving the hospital.

4. Etiquette question I had alot of people who didn't show at the last minute to my baby shower and have asked what do we still need... are they being nice or should I be honest and say Walmart gift cards would be great to put towards our bigger items???

I would maybe let them know that you got quite a bit and are still deciding and sorting through what you may need but a gift card would maybe work and then you can decide but of course you know your friends better than I do so not sure on this one.

Heya Beth,

1) I bought ALL for Baby.  Smelled the same, worked the same, and much cheaper.  Now Syd's clothes are washed with whatever I use for ours.  I was making my own soap for a while, but I stopped when I got tendinitis in my wrist and couldn't shred the soap.  So for now it is Tide w/ april fresh downy and April fresh downy.  I still wash her clothes separate.

2) I bought one at JCPenny.  I don't remember the name of it... I wanna say it was a Playtex.  I like the way the front latches worked and they were comfortable.

3) I had a motherhood maternity nursing gown and bathrobe that I brought with me.  I didn't change into it until my 2nd or 3rd day in the hospital.  I stayed in theirs until after I was allowed to REALLY shower.  Not to mention I was bleeding so bad everything was getting to be a mess.

4) I would be honest.  Tell them, I would have loved it you could have made it to the shower, and if you really want to get us something still that Walmart giftcards would be ideal.

Hugs
B

I can't answer questions 1-3 as I haven't had my child yet either. But was excited to read the answers you were given because they were the same questions that I was thinking of.

But I can answer #4 - my shower had a LOT of last minute cancellations. Our guest list was right around 60, we had 49 confirmed by RSVP "yes" - only 27 showed up to my shower. The majority of the people called either the day before or the day of and some didn't both to call at all. There were a few that asked me what I still needed after the fact. I told them that I would be updating my registries with items that I received that people bought but not through my registry after the shower and that they could check out my registry a few days later or if they wanted to make sure that I got what I needed, that a gift card would be perfect.

My baby shower was June 13th - gifts/cards from those that didn't show but asked what I still needed = ZERO.

So my experience is that they're just saying it to be nice - but you might know more honest people than me. But the way I looked at it - if they sent the gift/card then great, if not, I was no where worst off then I was before.

Hope your shower turned out great anyways!

Hey Shauna, funny I have had kids but over 10 years ago AND since the last were multiples and came super early I didn't have all this time to plan :-)

As for the shower I don't even want to get started I was so frutstrated with some people but now I look at as their loss because my hostess did such an awesome job they totally missed out! But like you said I wasn't sure if they were just asking as a way to get off the topic of them NOT coming or serious! Because trust me there are other things I would LOVE to say :-) And yes it was very nice without them anyway!

time is getting close are you ready for your little man????

Hello Beth!! It seems like you were just sharing your BFP and now you are getting close to having your precious little boy.

1.I always used Dreft myself but when my children would go with my mother, she used tide and it never hurt them, I think it all depends.Everyone reacts diffferent to laundry soap.

2.Too be honest I couldnt breast feed with Rob because i had toximia so bad and with my little girl i did not even try.I am sorry i am no help there, but if you do find good ones please do share because when i get pregnant again(which i pray is sooner then later after we get my stomach problems under control),I would love to try to breast feed for that baby.

3.I always brought my own gown, robe and slippers but to be honest because of all the bleeding(sorry TMI), i used theirs in fear of ruining mine but i did use my robe for walking the halls.

4.I would be honest and just tell them what you need is the larger items so a giftcard would be wonderful.

How are you feeling momma?

I can understand that. With my daughter it seemed like i was pregnant one day and had her in my arms the next and i went all the way to my due date. With my son, because i was so ill with him,it seemed like i was pregnant 9 years instead of 9 months.I would not trade either one for anything. My babies are my world and once i get all my issues im having now under control,i pray we have 1 more(hubby's first),then i will be done.

Best wishes Beth!!
