Thanks Stephanie. I do think that exercise is what is making a big difference from any other "diet" I have been on before. I have walked over 216 miles and my average calories burned on a 45 minute walk is about 450. That is my breakfast and lunch burned off in just 45 minutes. It also allows you not to feel guilty if you have a few little bites of something since you know you will be burning it off!

I started this with a promise to myself to exercise 30 minutes a day everyday no matter what. I have missed a few days but for the most part I force myself to walk. Once you start it is hard to stop.

Good luck!

Ok, Imma start doing this cause I have been gaining and hating it. I got down to 187 and I am back up to 206. The good news is that after a week + of eating crap I only gained 1 pound. My problem right now is wanting chips and anything cinnamon. Stupid cravings!

I am so proud of you!  I am also glad that you didn't allow yourself to quit when you got so discouraged last week.  You're right... we have to trust the process; in the end it will be a positive result if we just stick with our program, whatever that may be for each individual.  I am also getting better at a key component - even if I screw up and have a bad day, just pu**** to the back of my mind and start again.  That was hard before because I would have the mindset "well, I blew it, I might as well keep blowing it."  It has gotten a lot easier, though.

Anyway, on to my weight.  Last week I was 157.8, and this morning I was 156.4; so I lost 1.4 pounds, which I am overjoyed with.  I wanted to be at 155 by Friday; don't know if that is going to happen, but I am pretty happy with my progress so far.  I'm afraid when Joe is home, there will be a lot more eating out, but hopefully I will at least be able to maintain.  I definitely feel that I still need to exercise more; I'm still searching for a little of your dedication!  I'm hoping we will go for walks everyday during the 3 weeks he is home.  I also need to work on upping my protein and decreasing my carbs... I've kind of gotten bad about that.  Oh well... there's always something we could be doing better, I guess.

I hope everyone has a great week!

Congratulations!!! I bet you will reach your goal by Friday. I bet you are so excited! Even if you go out to eat more when he is home, you can still make good food choices. I hope he walks with you every day, that would be so nice. I have asked Paul to walk with me since he is complaining about his gut but he won't.....yet....I might try some persuasion.

WOW!  Congratulations!  Glad the upping cals worked and I'll be sure to tell my dr. that he's right about that.  Since math is NOT my forte, let's round it up to 8 pounds, which looks like this:

Jo are you sure about the cat? My fat cat weighs 16 pounds LOL. You are too funny. I hope this sticks and I never see another gain on the scale again.

I hope you are doing good this week. Thanks for the laugh!

You are so inspirational! I knew if you didn't let last week get you down you would get a good weight this week. That seems to happen to me when I'm losing. I bet you will continue with loss for a few weeks then stall or even gain and then continue. Your doing FANTASTIC!! And next month after I have this baby I will be posting right along with you on Mondays, I predict I will have 70 pounds to loose after I have her. I weighed 245 this morning with 6 weeks to go, I hope to loose 25-30 in the few weeks after birth (like I did with my first). So starting at 220 my goal will be 70 pounds in 1 year to be 150....please tell me this is possible ok your not a mind reader but I wanted to feel good! Congrats again!!

Thanks! I think 70 pounds in one year would be pretty easy. That is only 1.2 pounds a week I think. You could do that just exercising and not even dieting. I really do love the calorie counting instead of the whole protein and vegetable that most WLSurgeons push. This is the way I am going to eat the rest of my life so it isn't a fad or a temporary fix. It will be so nice when I am at goal, to find out just how much I can eat and still maintain.

You may not gain as much these last 6 weeks. I never gained a lot the last 6 weeks, I think I even lost the last 2 weeks. Good luck!

Jennifer,

Thank you for posting this!  I was so discouraged today and ready to just cry.  My story:  I had my surgery 4/2004 and lost down to 124 lbs, stablized at 130 and felt great.  Tragedy hit my family in 1/2006 and 130 turned to 135 turned to 140 etc.  When I found out I was pregnant in June 2006 I was around 150.  Not where I wanted to be but still better than where I was before surgery.  Had son and ended up at 165.  PPD and 16 months later and here I am at 176 and depressed more than ever.  Decided I had to take control and joined the gym last week.  Work with trainer 2 days a week and walk treadmill the rest ****il after my vacation - then we will up our sessions).  Yesterday I did 2.5 miles!  I've cut my calories and eliminated junk food.  Lost 2 pounds to 174 then today 176.  URGHHHHH.  I can see the idea that the body will hold on to the weight.  My trainer wants me to focus on protein/carbs and not so much calories.  Today I started my period so maybe that contributes to the weight not coming off???

Anyway, this is way too long...I just want to say thanks.  I am not going to give up and will keep on keeping on.  Going on a cruise and for the first time ever will bring my workout clothes on vacation with me!

Oh and by the way, I'd like to start weighing in here weekly.  Need all the motivation I can get!

Congratulations on getting yourself a trainer and taking control. It will really help with the depression as the scale goes down.

I need to stop letting the scale control my moods. It is part of the reason that I only weigh on Mondays. I never want to see a gain. If you eat right and exercise the weight will come off. Good luck!
