Interesting info re increasing EWCM....

I wanted to pass this on to those who are TTC...especially if you're on clomid or some other drugs that can affect the necessary EWCM during ovulation.

Last year w/two of my three pregnancies, at the time I ovulated and got pg...I was on antibiotics.  The first time I think it was bactrin, the second time I think it was arethramiasin (yes...I know...I just slaughtered the spelling of that.  Hopefully it's close enough you can figure out what I'm talking about though!).  I have often wondered if there was a connection but figured it was my imagination in my uneducated mind.

Last week, I was thumbing through my 'Taking Charge of Your Fertility' book and reading about ways to increase the EWCM, because w/the clomid, I couldn't really tell that were was any increase in the EWCM.  I was surprised to read that among several other suggestions, it also suggests taking amoxicillin, saying it can increase the EWCM.  I am allergic to pennicillin, so amoxicillin (it's cousin) is also out for me.

Just the day before yesterday (Thursday), when I went to see the dr at the med unit at work to find out why AF hadn't come...I was talking to her and told her about what I'd read and the fact that I'd gotten pg 2x while taking antibiotics, and she said that yes, antibiotics can increase the EWCM if taken around the time ovulating!  My plan that I was talking to her about was once AF came, I would try either femora (which isn't supposed to affect the EWCM) or clomid, but w/either one, I would also take antibiotics to increase the EWCM.

I wanted to pass the info on to others TTC who may have trouble w/not having enough EWCM.  Talk to your dr and see if they'll let you try the antibiotics.

I'm trying to stay low in the clouds...it's a smaller fall if this one doesn't work out either...not that I'm pessimistic...just trying not to be too optimistic either.  I just keep reminding myself...TODAY I'm pregnant...and hope that I get to keep repeating that for the next 9 months.  Maybe I should have a t-shirt printed up....

You and my DH both had a feeling it was going to happen this month.  I think maybe I'm just trying not to get my hopes up....but just praying it'll be OK.  My DH was telling me even when the test was negative that it was positive.  Seems he knows my body more than I do?

Don't know the hcg yet...the dr called the lab to get a yes or no but they will send the written results probably next week.

We're going to wait until I hit 2-3 months to tell him.  I'm sure he'll be suspicious, and if he asks, I won't lie...but I doubt he'd ask.  I have taken the box off the top of the fridge w/the Lovenox and put it in my bedroom (it's a huge box...really a styrofoam cooler) and he knows what was in it...so if he sees it in my bedroom, it'll be a clue..but still, I won't say anything for a bit unless he directly asks.

You know, my DH and I were kind of talking about the same concept this morning.  Last year when I got pregnant I was taking flagyl for a bacterial infection.  I found out I was pregnant a few weeks later.  This week is my week to ovulate and I started taking the flagyl again yesterday for another damn bacterial infection.  Hopefully that will help us :-)

Another thing I find interesting.  I have had a problem with reoccuring bacterial infections ever since i had my WLS.  I did not have one while I was pregnant.  I am starting to wonder if it is a lack of vitamins cause I was extremely good about taking my vitamins when I was pregnant.  Hmm

Well...hopefully the flagyl works again this month and Libby can have a play mate!  Seems the hard way to go about conceiving...get a bacterial infection and antibiotics and get pg...but hey, whatever works.

Maybe you should start up on the vits again, just in case.  Either way, w/or w/o being pg...they're good for you!

That makes total sense now that I think about it.  My first pregnancy was a chemical pregnancy but I got pregnant on antibiotics.  I was also on birth control so that theory about antibiotics canceling out birth control is also true
