So after like almost 3 weeks of moring sickness bad enough to make me take a trip to ER and ended up on bed rest for 2 a days i can finally eat. So i ave had to up my cal and protein intake like the nut said. Which i have been eating alittle more. Well i have had a good few days. we ate at my parents one night and my parents came over another night. I made dreamfields pasta for me and mom cause she is diabetic( i have been unable to eat reg pasta I would get sick, to many carbs) So  i was able to eat  more pasta and I had a few green beans with it. My mom said OMG you can really eat ALOT.. I looked at her and said Mom is a half a cup of cooked pasta... Really not much compared to her plate full o pasta!!!!

Last night we had tacos at her house. I was so hungery we were swimming all day.. I ate a slice of cheese and breakfast but not much else.. I ended up eating almost 2 whole hard shell tacos with meat and cheese only on them.. She again. OMG Tanya you are gonna really start apcking on lbs if you dont star****ching your weight!! I gained and lost the same 2 lbs for weeks!!!!

I have yet to gain any weight!! WFT GIVES!!! I tried to explain it to her nicely. Now i dont wanna eat never anyone again!!!!

The weird thing is my DH is actaully happy im eating!

WOW! That wasn't very nice!  Two hard tacos?  I would compare your plate to hers, like you did and then tell her that your nutritionist said you are doing just wonderful.  OR, just decline eating with her until you deliver!

Man, hope you get THAT worked out.  There's nothing worse than someone being the food police...like we didn't get enough of that BEFORE surgery, right?

Good luck and take care,
Sandy

Want to come live near me in Indonesia?  It's nice being on the other side of the world where your family's NOT at sometimes.

Seriously....I'd find a time when you're not having a meal together to bring it up to her...tell her you don't need her to comment on what you're eating or how much...that you're aware of what/how much you're eating, and you're in consulation w/a PROFESSIONAL nutritionist who has helped you learn how to make healthy choices.  Then...because I'm *****y....I'd tell her that if it continued to happen, you would not have meals w/her...period.  I'm glad at least your DH is supportive of you eating.  The food police is the last thing any of us need ever...but especially when you're pg.

The same thing happened to me not too long ago and it was with taco's too. I was eating my SO's aunt's house. We haven't always gotten along and she's one of those people that says things without thinking and whatever. She really doesn't care if she hurts your feelings or anything. She's a bigger lady though too (just to let you know so that my comment back to her makes more sense.)

So we sat down and I had two taco's - she had 5 on her plate. This convo ensued...
Her: Wow Shauna, I didn't know you were allowed to eat that much.
Me: Typically I shouldn't, but since I had to up my calories for the pregnancy, I can often eat a little more than I normally would.
Her: Well I sure how you don't continue that after the baby is born, otherwise you'll blow up again.
Me: Well, if you put it like that - I shouldn't blow up "again" since 2 taco's is a serving and is what people who HAVEN'T had surgery are supposed to be eating. How many do you have over there? 4 or 5? That's double the servings for a so-called normal person.

I think I got my point across - she only ate 2 1/2 taco's that night (at least while we were there!)

Okay first of all it is good that you are able to eat! Second of all this is the time to tune your mom out! I know it is hard, my mom has learned NOT to say anything but whenever she is around she watches what I eat like a hawk, then if I ever say anything she will make a comment like "I noticed you were eating more" and that sort of stuff drives me NUTS and I am try very hard to just to ignore her otherwise she would make me crazy!

So eat up and enjoy your pregnancy!!

All I've heard from my grandma since I had the baby is "I hope you're watching your weight."  and "You're going to gain all your weight back.  You'd better start a diet."

Blah blah blah.

Don't listen to it....  I know, in my experience, explaining to my grandma that I am in control of my weight, etc doesn't work.  So I just let it roll off my back.

Sorry you have to go through this situation!

Your DH is not being weird. You should be eating... alot more than what you are. The baby doesn't need much right now, but YOU do. Your metabolism is in high gear. I suggest some glucerna shakes. They got me through my hyperemesis with Nikolas. Both my doctor and I suspect that my last lost was due to starvation(from the morning sickness). My body didn't have the excess weight that it did with Nikolas. As for the nay sayer---simply smile and say " My first responsibility is to nourish the life of your grandchild growing inside of me." and then take a HUGE bite of food, savouring every second.

Hugs,
Angie
