Questions from a new mom....
First of all, your little Cooper is so sweet... Congrats again Momma!! And don't fret, you are doing a great job as a mommy I can tell... Hang in there, it all comes in time... Even with Zander being 6 months old now, I am still learning every single day...
1. Yes I think it's normal for them to startle easily... Zander does this still when he first awakens and you move towards him to quickly or move him too quickly... But at first, he did do this a lot...
2. I think this one is normal too... Zander goes thru a fussy time starting about 8pm each night until about 10pm... He usually just wants to be held or played with... So once we do this he's fine with things and the rest of the evening goes pretty smooth... From what you descibed, it doesn't sound like gassiness to me but each baby reacts differently... When it was gas with Zander, he drew his legs up and screamed until we found a way to get it released... A little bit of fussing could just be him saying "hey mommy, I'm tired"... Just my .02 of course... :-)
3. I dunno... Never could get Zander to latch so I gave up... But you can always contact a La Leche League coach and ask breast feeding advice from them... Or even most hospitals have help for this too for new Moms...
4. Yup totally normal too... Zander did this a lot for the first couple of months....
5. Again, totally normal... Babies don't see really clearly right away so he sees shadows mostly... So if he don't look directly at you no worries... They all do this... But once his eyesight clears up and he can see clearly, he will gaze at you all the time... I love feeding Zander his bottles and holding eye contact with him.... It's such a wonderful feeling!!!
