bright red blood

So I had a bit of a difficult BM this morning, and had bright red blood (spotting, maybe a bit more) and about a dime size clot.  Has anyone had this happen to them and it was nothing serious?  I am looking for reassurance.  I am having next to no cramping, just feels like left over cramps from the BM.  I called the Dr's office and they said they'd call me back before noon, which is in about 15 mins, but I am going home to put myself on bed rest until I hear from them.

I am not sure how far out you are from your surgery but I had terrible problems with BM's and bleeding...I even passed what looked like clots...Not sure if that gives you reassurance but it worried me too alot...

If it's from your bum and the bowl movement...I'd say it's normal.  If you're constipated and pushing hard...you could be having a small fissure (crack/tear) right inside the rectum so the blood's coming out w/the poo...or you might even have a small hemeroid that you can't feel but it bleeds if you strain when constipated.  My son, who was born w/chronic constipation - he's now 14 years old - has problems w/that sometimes...enough so that it even turns the water red in the toilet and freaks him out.  Doesn't happen all the time...but only when the constipation is worse than normal.

Try to up your fiber and liquids...and if your dr ok's it...take some stool softener and see if that helps.

I had that at 14 weeks, went in for u/s and pelvic exam to check for where the blood was coming from! Turned out it was like a little ruptured blood vessel on the outside of my uterus. So hopefully they will bring you in and see what is going on!
Best of Luck!!

I was seen pretty much right away by the Dr's office though it took forever.  Had both kinds of ultrasound, but the bleeding is unexplained.  No naughties or lifting till I don't see it anymore, though it stopped only 15 mins after it started.  I think we'll lay off tonight and see about tomorrow.  Hubby was supportive but very frustrated with the amount of waiting time (he had to leave work for this).  I feel much better.  She was jumping around, seems to have switched which way she is facing, and she waved!  All in all a positive.  Dr. had me have the RNY labs my surgeon suggested in the paperwork he sent her drawn but without fasting.....maybe because I am pregnant no fast?  All I know is now I am starving and have a headache....FOOD HERE I COME!

Glad to hear baby is doing well!  I had that unexplained bleeding for 12 weeks with Kellen.  It was a subchorionic hemorrhage or bleed.  Every time I had a BM or strained I'd start spotting.  I was on pelvic rest for the entire first trimester.  Eventually, the clot came out (that was gross) at 12 weeks and I never had another episode again. ( It was alot of blood and clots - so bad I made my husband come look at it!)

Hope the same happens for you (the resolving, not the grossness!)  Good luck!
