Okay so i am past my first trimester and am still scared to have sex. We tried to have sex when I was about 8 weeks and I just wasn't feeling it. So let's just say its been over 12 weeks!! Besides that there's been play stuff (hehe TMI) but no sex. Am I normal? I want to have sex I am just one of those women that are scared that somethings going to happen to the baby. I am paranoid I know. Any suggestions or help?
*Also not on this subject I read in my baby books that you are suppost to sleep on your left side when your pregnant is that true?
Thanks for any input!!

Lord woman! 12 weeks!

Unless your doc gives you a medical reason not to............go for it!

Geesh, I was wanting it all the time while preggo. ALL THE TIME! LOL.

And yes, sleeping on left side is recommeded.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

Perhaps it is just me..but I hate sex when I am pregnant...first comes the worry (early on)..then comes the discomfort..I am assuming it is from the cervix being closed tight and perhaps bigger.  But it just isn't comfie.  Then extra TMI- I get chubby and my spouse is chubby so rubbing chub isn't very thrilling or romantic...so there are only certain ways that are "okay".  It sucks because my hormones tell me okay, but I just overall don't like having intercourse- other things are fun.

I had sex once when I was pregnant with the twins because I was petrified it would induce labor.

This time around I have yet to have sex.   Again, petrified.  So I'm right there with you.  I haven't had sex since I started fertility meds back in April.   Thank god I have a very patient husband.

Lord .... I dont know how you waited that long. I probably should have been more paranoid but I was just terribly "H" when pregnant I was the one begging him and he was saying "Im tired" , he was loving it. Put those pregnancy hormones to good use and stop being paranoid.

I'm so scared too! I avoided it for about 6-7 weeks but we did it recently. I know in my head that it won't hurt the baby but I had moments where I was so scared that I just wanted to break down in tears. The only reason I didn't let that happen is because I didn't want to put my husband through that so I held it in.

I think we'll try again and experiment with different positions where I don't feel like the baby is being crushed.

I asked the OB and she said if you are worried just avoid the times when you would normally have been having a period (4,8, 12 weeks etc)

And I was also told to sleep on my left side and I seemed to naturally gravitate there.

My husband and I were told to stay on pelvic rest until after the first trimester. I was completely terrified so I actually refused to have sex until I was past the point of viability. That is right, we went about 23 weeks without having sex. I was just paranoid after having had 2 miscarriages, but everything turned out fine. Of course we did other things... or my poor husband would have gone insane. I understand your paranoia because that is exactly how I was. The only suggestion is that you should only do it if you feel comfortable with it.

My OB said that sleeping on either side is fine, but they do no recommend sleeping on your back after about 20 weeks. I have woken up on my back a few times but when you get farther along you might start feeling short of breath when you are in that position. If you are like me you wont be able to stay on one side all night, I toss and turn and toss and turn because my hips and legs start to hurt and go numb.

Good luck!
