Did anyone NOT gain ANY weight during the 1st trimester?

I saw my high risk OB last week and she seemed concerned that at 11 weeks, I had maintained my weight, but I hadn't gained anything. My regular OB didn't seem too concerned about it and she told me that she expects me to gain about 20-30 pounds during the entire pregnancy. The pregnancy books I've read say that some women do not gain and some actually lose during the first trimester due to morning sickness. I actually lost two pounds over the weekend, but I have no idea why. Since then I am slowly putting it back on...ounce by ounce.

I am eating constantly, drinking my water and taking all of my vitamins...

Should I really be concerned? I will be 12 weeks tomorrow...

35 pounds lost on my own. 8 pounds on the pre-op diet. 87 since surgery.

I lost 56 lbs over the course of my last pregnancy and 35 in the first trimester of my first(which was 16years ago and way before RNY--I was 135 lbs when I got pregnant.) It's common. Just make sure you keep eating.

I gained 6 lbs around week 2 (entirely boob weight, as I went up 2+ cup sizes in 4 days) and then lost 11, for a total of 5 lbs lost. I'm 14+ wks now, and my doc and I are expecting a little weight gain soon. You're right, a lot of women don't gain and in fact lose, so I wouldn't stress. If your doc is worried, I'd talk to her about when you should start to worry, if you don't start gaining.

I lost 6 lbs in my first trimester. My Dr. says I may only gain 15 lbs my whole pregnancy they can't tell everyone to gain a specific amount of weight. We us WLS people are different. Don't worry, eat your protein and get in your calories. Drink your water!!!! If you are worried call your Gastric Dr or asked to see a OB that has handles WLS patients before. Good Luck and Calm Down your going to be fine!!

First off - congrats! It's always nice to see a new face around here.

Anyways - I lost during my first and second trimesters. It's only been in my third that I've gained weight - and I haven't even gained everything I lost. My doctor is not concerned because my little boy is progressing perfectly. As long as the baby is doing well - they usually don't seem to mind. Every woman is different - so to say that they expect you to gain or that you will gain a certain amount is kind of unreasonable.

I wouldn't be too concerned at all - it happens all the time - even to those who have not had WLS.

Don't worry, you may make it up!  I didn't gain any in my 1st, by 20 weeks I gained 8, 2nd 20 weeks  I gained 42.  And they weren't concerned.  I got pregnant 4 months post-op too!

Why are you seeing a high risk ob?  Are you ok??

I have lost 5 pounds during my first trimester.  My OB isn't concerned at all.   She says as long as baby is growing I am fine.  Baby is growing just fine.

I was worried when I lost 6 lbs in my first trimester, but my OB said about 1/3 of women do lose weight in the first trimester. I wouldn't worry too much about it!

Banded 03/22/06  276/261/184 (highest/surgery/lowest)

Sleeved 07/11/2013  228/165 (surgery/current) (111lbs lost)

Thank you for all the responses! It certainly helped to ease my mind a bit. I am almost 2 years post-op and I've been able to maintain my weight for about 8 months now.

I am seeing a high-risk OB because of three things:

- Crohn's Disease
- My WLS
- I was artificially inseminated (same-sex couple), so we had IUI.

So, it sounds like I kind of need to take it with a grain of salt. The baby was measuring 11 weeks, 4 days at our 11 week, 1 day ultrasound. So, I am going to go by that! We're doing good. :)
