New here and a bit scared
Hi all;
I just found out I am pg and I am only 9 months out. I am a bit scared because even though my weight had not moved in over a month, I've lost 5 lbs in less than a week. The pg has been confirmed by bloodtest, but it's still early. I am going to call my surgeon today and make an appt for the nut too, but not looking forward to that phone call.
As of last night I started feelng really naseous an my pouch started hurting. It seems too early for morning sickness so I dunno. Just feel awful and I'm scared.
I am taking plenty of vits and folic acid, btw.

Welcome..try not to be too worried. Lots of woman have gotten pregnant "early" out from surgery and had very successful pregnancies. I do think turning to your WLS staff and finding an OB that is familiar with WLS patients is the best choice. A lot of women know they are pregnant by not feeling good, so it may not be to early to have "morning sickness". Keep eating healthy, follow your rules, add more carbs...they will give you great advise. You may continue to drop weight but as long as you are eating, and the baby is developing well...you shouldn't be overly concerned. Keep us updated- sending lots of positive pregnancy vibes!
I have told my story to MANY women here - almost once a week, since this seems to happen so often...
I got pregnant 4 months post op. I had a VERY healthy pregnancy, lost some weight but ended up still gaining 50 lbs in the end. Everyone could tell I was still losing weight in the rest of my body, even my surgeon. It was ALL baby - he was 10.5 lbs. I have no idea HOW he was so big since I was only able to eat 800-1000 calories a day.
Some women here end their pregnancies lighter than they started, some don't gain at all, some gain a little and then there's me. LOL. Women in starving countries still manage to do it and so can you - and you have a steady food source every day. :-) Baby will take from you what it needs, you just get the left overs.
Good luck and please don't worry. Talk about being scared to call your surgeon! LOL! Luckily, mine had just finished a study on getting pregnant less than a year out and said "congrats! you guys will be FINE!"

You will be fine...you are already doing your homework. The supplements are important, and also monitoring your vitamin levels very closely during pg. Things that tend to go lower, iron and b-12. The sooner you catch a slip the sooner you can add reinforcements. I get my blood drawn every 6 weeks. The other thing is that you will have to change your mindset about food a little. I know you don't want to stop losing....who does. Like sandra said, we all differ. But, it is really important to add healthy carbs into your diet. That is hard when we avoid them after surgery. But, ketosis is bad for baby. Try to incorperate some good carbs with your protein, okay.
And it isn't too soon for morning sickness. As far as my pouch....it changes during pg. I can usually eat about 20 grams of sugar without dumping when not pg, but when pg it drops to like 8. And it is really hard to eat any amount of food. I mean we are already really restricted, but baby pushing on things doesn't make it any easier. There are days when I can barely eat 1/2 cup at a sitting and I am 3+years out. It will be important for you to eat several small meals during the day. I eat 6. Always having a little something on the tummy can help with morning sickness too.
Anyway, you will be fine, just work closely with your dr. And this board will be your bible for the next nine months! LOL Good luck. Shari
