I Pity the Fool...

...Who tells me what name my child should have.

WTF? Seriously, it's not liked I asked, requested or even hinted that I wanted people's input. At all. Family, friends, doesn't matter...I don't give a rat's ass what they want our child to be named.

Once my husband and I learned OUR baby's gender, that's when he and I began discussing names, amongst ourselves. For the record, only OUR votes count anyway. Never once before learning the gender did my husband and I hint at names to one another. The two of us are well aware of our endless debating skills....hence, we figured we could avoid half the battle ahead of time! Once my husband and I do decide on a name....we're SOOOOOOOOOOOO keeping it to ourselves. I feel like I've already gotten a ton of unsolicited name advice...so I why would I subject myself to even more by announcing the name before the baby is born. Perhaps if people hadn't already gotten on my last nerve, I'd have enough nerve left to announce it when the time comes.

So far, I've decided to keep a running list with all the names people have given...I call it the "No-Way, No-How List."

[End of rant.]

Moving on to more pleasant, positive topics: I finally have a baby bump.* Granted, it is covered in lumpity lumps known as belly fat...but under it all is a hard mass that contains our little boy. Even my mother-in-law pointed out the actual baby bump on Sunday. This is a huge step for me, as it is only in the past week or so that I finally have begun believing I'm pregnant. In using a "one day at a time" mentality so far in my pregnancy...I almost overdid it and found I wasn't enjoying my pregnancy because I couldn't see 'the big picture.' Now, I am really enjoying it more and, although it feels strange, I am making progress.

My total weight gain is 12.5 lbs. for 20 weeks. I've been fairly diligent about capping my calories at 2000 a day. My protein, fiber, and water intake are all high, which is what works well for my body, pregnant or not. Despite having a thicker midsection & boobs (duh) and rounder face, my fingers are getting skinnier! Seriously, my rings are loose. It seems very odd to me.

So, that's the update for now,

* No, I will not be posting a baby bump photo....it would burn my eyes to look at it!

I hear you..... LOUD and CLEAR! That's a good point, seriously!

Yesterday, I was in line at a store and this woman's three boys were being...well, boys and not really listening to her. One of her kids has the same name as my husband and I swear she called his name about 73 times while I was in line with them. Yeah, don't want my son to have the same first name as my husband....since it'll be difficult to distinguish who exactly I'm yelling at! My father-in-law and husband have the same first name but they are not Sr/Jr...it's confusing!

LOL....Works best when you can yell the first and middle name...Like mine...Holly Ann.  You'll be yelling it quite a bit...so give it some practice and see how it rolls off your tongue.

One of my aunts (who has six kids...5 boys, 1 girl)...named two of her sons 'James.' James Dean (yeah...she was 16 when she got pg w/him...he'll be 39 this year) and James Calvin.  WHY would you name two of your children the same name?  God knows.

I hear you about the names, I actually told my 15 year old cousin to "shut up" this weekend after she hounded me for 20 mins about why I would not name my son Jacob (I guess its a big Twilight name), I tried to be nice, but after a while it was too annoying for me to handle.  My dad (who is a jerk) actually had the nerve to suggest we name the baby after HIM, I seriously threw up a little in my mouth and then laughed in his face. I really don't like people. LOL

Yes, I can see how being hounded to name your baby after a character could be annoying! And 20 minutes? Wow, she certainly is persistent!

Isn't it funny when people so selflessly suggest you name the baby after them? My neighbor, Jim, keeps telling me what a great name "James" is....yeah, that's all I need...another rumor going around the neighborhood about me! I can hear the gossip now...."Did you hear that women at the end of the street named her son after the neighbor....they always seemed a bit TOO close if you ask me..."

Oh, Lordy!

I agree 10000000%!! We have decided to name our baby very old fashioned family names and have shared them and boy do we get the comments (negative mostly) but it is so annoying!!! I think they are great names and hubby does too so what does it matter to everyone else?

Girl-Margaret Elizabeth (maggie)
Boy-Otis Harrison (Otis)

I like our names!!!! Boo on everyone else!

You understand me...I like that! Naming a child is the parent's choice--end of story! Otis is a name I have on my list...but I haven't run it by my husband yet. (I should get on that, huh?) Margaret has a ton of nick-name possibilities too!
