"Safer" Antidepressants?
Hello.
I was on 20mg Celexa for my entire pregnancy with my daughter. I was at 40mg when I got pregnant this time and I have weaned myself down to 10mg.
When I had my daughter, one of the nurses said that Celexa was safe for pregnancy but not for breastfeeding. Another nurse completely disagreed. So I looked up the safety info that they had at the time (nearly 6 years ago) and I felt comfortable with continuing to breastfeed.
Thats my experience!

i think it depends on WHY you need the meds.... depression yes... but chemical or situational.. if that makes sence.. there are also the ssri meds vs the other ones.. i forget what they are called.... not all meds are created equal.. or have equal effects on the same person... one more thing... sophia's mom ( i think he name is jen) posted a great article about the effects of generic medication and how they have diff and more severe side effects on a person
Absolutely chemical. In the past, some of it has been situational, but I've done a lot of counseling to work that out. And I still go to counseling as needed (and for med checks, of course). But all in all, my life is better than it's ever been. I've got a good marriage, stable job, healthy friendships, etc. But sure enough, if I go off meds, I'm a wreck in three days (and longer - it's not just a withdrawal effect).
Interesting about the generics vs name brands...I'd heard that before with a few drugs, but I wasn't sure that it applied to all drugs. May have to look into that.
Cheers!
