Question for PG Ladies w/ a Band

I haven't been on the board in a while so let me first say BIG congrats to all the new mothers and mothers to be. The last time I checked in Lincoln's name was still being decided upon and so was Jayden James'... and now they're here! I hadn't thought it'd been that long... WOW!!

Okay so my question/ concern... I had my band placed on 4/29/08 and haven't had any problems with it and I'm not sure if I am now or if it's just FTM jitters. I get this burning, painful sensation below my port but above my navel so it's not the baby. I'm wondering if it's something I'm eating, if it's just how heartburn feels with a band, or if the baby's just pushing everything up. I guess the best way to describe the feeling is how it felt right after surgery, kinda painful kinda crampy... I'm at a loss. I called both my surgeon and OB and they just think it's pregnancy related but I figured I'd ask you all since there's a wealth of knowledge here. Has anyone experienced anything like this or close to it?

Are you feeling this inside or more in your muscle wall? Sometimes as my muscles would stretch I'd have port area discomfort, burning/pulling feeling.  My port is off to the left of my belly button, so I don't know what it would feel like where yours is located. The location you describe seems a bit too low for heartburn.

I second what Dev said, it sounds like muscle issues. Just in the past few days I have started getting a burning/pulling pain right under and above where my port is, and doc agrees that its the muscles streching and pulling where my port is.

I was told that yes, it's growing pains. That's a good way to describe it... muscles pulling. I told DH one time that it felt like I'd down a million crunches. I guess it is just FTM jitters. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't something that was going to affect the baby in any way. Whew... thanks Dev and Courtney. But gee whiz... it's supposed to hurt like that? I may have to rethink my plan to have no epidural. Hmmmm...

It gets better! Oddly, I experienced the port discomfort more in the first trimester than I did since then. It comes back every now and then, but usually for less than a day.

Sounds like your uterus if probably stretching the muscles that your port is attached too.
I had some port pain with my last pregnancy.  Not alot though....My port is very high so my uterus really didn't get much higher than the port.
