I'm getting sharp pains in my lower abdomen and they get worse when i try to pee, which i have been doing at least every half hour, which seems like a lot to me.

I have an appointment to this morning but I'm not sure it's a doctor's visit. I was told it was a registration appointment where I'll get a parenting class.

How do they treat UTI's during pregnancy? What can i do if they won't see me today and I have to wait? Is there something OTC i can take? This has been going on for the last 3 days and I thought if i just drank more water it would get better but I think it's getting worse. Can i just take Tylenol for the pain?

I am sure if it's a UTI, they will give you antibiotics for it.  If they say they can't see you today, though...insist on it.  If left untreated, a UTI can travel up to become a kidney infection...which I have had - severely enough to kill my kidney, literally - and you don't want to experience the pain from that.  In the meantime, I don't know if it really helps, but the old wives tale re UTI's is to drink cranberry juice.  Oh yeah...and I would assume tylenol would be OK...you can take it when you're pregnant.

Hope you feel better soon...and please don't let them put you off!

Let them know when you get in. You have to get antibiotics to help it. Lots of water. Some people can drink cranberry juice but that makes me sick so its just a ton of more water!! Good luck!

Yeah. I don't think i could have the juice in quantities large enough to make any difference.

Try to get in ASAP, it's important to get this taken care of. AZO standard is a little anelgesic pill you can take, and it has a B rating. however, AZO may interfere with the UTI screening test, so it would be best if you could give a urine sample before you start taking it. There's also AZO cranberry if you want to get your cranberry juice in tablet form. Most drugs stores carry both.

I was on macrobid for my UTI's during pregnancy.  Actually took it every day of my 2nd pregnancy with my history.

I had one during my 1st pregnancy and was prescribed Macrobid.  I would definitely get in and be seen for it right away, girl! *hugs*
