Question about PMS....etc.

So I finally have my first period since delivering Jantzen. And as with every delivery I had, my period would change afterwards. So I didn't know what to expect. I was hoping for a symptom free 2-3 day light period from now on.

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!!!!!!!!!!

So anyways, I digress. So I have MAJOR bloating and cramps. I haven't had cramps since high school years so it's been quite a long while since I dealt with this. My question is.....

What can I take to help with these symptoms? Does Midol, Pamprin, etc work? If so, is it effective for RNY patients? Are there any other vitamins or foods I can eat to help???

TIA,
Jo

I HAD THIS PROBLEM AFTER NYLAH, BOY WAS IT BAD. BESIDES MAJOR BLOATING (GAINED 3-5 POUNDS EVERY MONTH I WAS GETTIN IT) AND CRAMPS. I NEVER HAD CRAMPS- EVER! BESIDES ALL THAT I WAS DEVELOPED PMDD (PRE MENSTRAL DYSPHORIC DISORDER) SO I WAS TERRIBLY IRRITABLE AND MOODY TOO!

I TOOK PAMPRIN AND BELIEVE OR NOT EXCEDRIN MIGRAINE. IT DIDNT "CURE" ME BUT MADE MY SYMPTOMS BEARABLE. THE OTHER THING THAT HELPED WAS THE BIRTH CONTROL YAZ.

AS FOR EATING I WAS RAVENOUS WHEN GETTING MY PERIOD SO I CANT HELP YOU THERE.

Well I am trying to avoid chocolate. LOL. Still working on this last bit of "baby weight". LOL. I haven't felt overly hungry though, anyways. It's just SEVERE cramping. No OTC pain meds have helped so far. I even tried NSAIDS which I know are a no no for RNY but I am feeling desperate.

Thanks for the input so far.

I have taken Midol (generic) and it does the trick for my PMS.

Ok, here's a weird answer one of my friends told me when I was complaining one month about my cramps.  Crunches work really well to help ease the cramps.  I've tried it a few times, and as much as I hate to admit it, it worked.  The cramps didn't go away completely, but they were much less severe.

I would also try a heating pad to see if that helps the muscles relax some.

Watch out for pamprin and midol. One of them has aspirin in it. Make sure you are drinking enough water. I had vicoden left over from the C-section with my post partum period...My cramps were so bad I used them for a few days. After the first month , it got better. Warm bath maybe?

Next month, try dandelion tea for two weeks before...It's amazing!!!

Believe it or not, evening primrose oil capsules work GREAT.  I am so not into earthy stuff, but my doctor recommended it, and it works amazingly well.

Feel better soon!

I have left over percocet I am thinking I will take when I get home. It's that bad! LOL. I may try the primrose thing. It's not percocet but one certainly can't be doped up on percocet constantly while trying to take care of a family and work!

I am hoping that it's just THIS month that is this bad...........UGH
