I gave birth today...
Wait… wait… before you throw around the congratulations and ask the pink or blue questions… I must clarify… it wasn’t a child… but the occasion was joyous and I needed to share in a place where people may be able to empathize. I…am… constipated. I am 12, almost 13 weeks pregnant and my twice a day routine has become once a week… so when the day comes I want to celebrate, I want to throw on a swimsuit and flitter down the street showing off my lighter frame, I want to rejoice. I never understood what misery and pure hell constipation was… and now that I know – I want to salute and donate fiber to the masses that suffer this torture on a regular basis.
My…birth experience wasn’t bad at all… my right foot and leg fell asleep, but I read some very informative articles in Popular Science and learned quite a bit about the contents of an OUST air freshener bottle.
It was a good day… and I’m looking forward to next week.

I am dying here!!! That is too funny and I can relate to everything you have said. With that being said, take some advice from the Queen of constipation. Fiber and Omega bars have 9 grams of fiber in them, Fiber one yogurt has 5 grams. Eat 2 of each a day and you have hit you RDA of Fiber. I also eat the 6 fiber bread, fiber pastries, pistachios, apples, fiber cereal. I STILL am not happy with my bathroom experience.
There is always the glycerine suppositories but I am not sure how safe they are in pregnancy.

That is awesome! I am forever telling my husband I gave birth to some poop because often it feels like it!
Congrats on your "baby" and I hope you have twins next time.

Your post made me laugh! You poor thing....your birth story doesn't sound all that appealing!
Long before I ever became pregnant, I had quite an ordeal with constipation...so I'm well versed in what I need to consume fiber-wise and liquid-wide in order to "output" properly. When I became pregnant, I increased the amount of fiber based on all the horror stories I've heard from other preggo's. Well, for whatever reason, I haven't found any difference in my bowel habits since becoming pregnant. (Thank you God!) Then again, there's still time, maybe the big "C" will appear later in my pregnancy.
Anyhow...there are so many fiber supplements and foods supplemented with fiber nowadays. I noticed Jennifer mentioned a few. I really like Kashi products for their fiber content, and my good old standby...High-Fiber V-8 juice. It came out about a year or 2 ago and it has 5 grams fiber for each 8 oz. serving.
Good luck to you...hopefully you won't have to wait another wee****il you "give birth" again!
