Biting--OUCH!

Elijah bites--frequently and hard!  He's almost ten months old and has two bottom teeth (we have the bite marks to prove it) and the top two are very close but have been for some time.  Mommy, daddy, the dog, and the cats are preferrable (the hairier the better--and no, that's not me :-) to any teething ring, frozen washcloth, frozen fruit, Orajel, clove water, etc.  We've tried saying "NO, "ouch", pretending to cry (sometimes almost really crying), firm voices, putting him right down, moving away from him, giving him something else to bite, but no luck.  He bites even harder and more fequently when he's thirsty or hungry (if only he'd pick up on the signs for hungry and thristy).  Help!

Lore bit me once... I turned around and bit her back... she never did it again... i bite her hard enough that she realized it hurt but didn't leave a mark... my mom had to do the same thing to my sister and my sister stopped as well...

I'm going through the same thing.  Hannah started around the same age as Elijah.  She doesn't do it nearly as much now though.   Her pedi. suggested sternly telling her no, putting her down, and ignoring her for a few seconds.   I do that, but I can't really tell it's helped any.  I even went as far as biting her back once.  Of course I couldn't bring myself to do it hard enough, so she thought it was hilarious!
Good luck!

LOL...sorry...it's not funny he's biting you...but I'm just thinking that some kids don't grow out of it.  My son came home last week and told me that a whack job kid in his class bit him...just turned around and bit him.  My son is 14 - so this kid's in the same ballpark age wise!!!!  My son had bruises on his arm where the kid grabbed it to bite him...but my son elbowed him in the face before he could break the skin.

I agree w/the pp....bite him back.  Hard enough to know he's been bit.  I know some people will disagree with this...but I'd also give him a swat on the butt.  W/his diaper, he won't feel it...but it'll shock him a good one.
