So we go out last night for a quick bite at this new place that opened up....we ordered appetizers & DH got a beer, and I ordered their strawberry lemondade...yum!! So she even tells me that they can only do 1 refill on that (unlike a regular soda or tea)...ok no problem! So a little later when she comes back to the table...I have finished a portion of the drink which tasted tart mind you, but it was lemonade so no biggie....and I asked if she would bring the refill...she looked at me like I was crazy and says...you know that is the one WITH alcohol right? WTH!  It BETTER NOT freakin be with alcohol!!!  DS is at the table so I am trying really hard not to lose it but DH catches that I am about to burst into tears right then & there! I did NOT taste any alcohol in this drink & so she apologizes profusely....that she made the error, OMG! I even reminded her about the 1 refill policy..hello where in the h@$$# can you order an alcoholic beverage that would have come with a freakin refill?! DH was trying to make light of a bad situation, saying how it will be ok, I have been so stressed..bla bla bla...ok...I am so anal that during my first pregnancy, I went to church & took communion with one of my friends, only to find out they had REAL wine in the cup (unlike my church, where it was grape juice!) LOL! She even had to tell me GOD will not punish you for that you know LOL! I am so particular with that so I feel HORRIBLE!  I even made DH taste it & he didn't taste alcohol either so i am hoping she was just having a bad night (it was extremely busy & crowded) and that my drink was the one I ordered...without the alcohol.  And of course DH was no help, he thinks I am making a mountain out of a mole hill! MEN!

You'll be FINE and the baby will be FINE. The kinds of developmental problems that can be caused by alcohol during pregnancy aren't because mom had A DRINK, but because mom drank consistently throughout pregnancy! In some countries they don't even tell women to STOP drinking altogether, just to drink a lot less!
It's OK to be mad at the waitress, but it's over and done with now.

being hormonal I would have chewed her out then asked for the manager and probably would have walked out with a free dinner. lol but I am *****y :)

I am sure that even if there was alcohol in it (I am sure that you would have felt it if there was) but you will both me ok. Think of how many women get preggo on a night of intoxication then go on to drin****il they find out.

I'd be pissed too!!   I probably wouldn't have thrown quite a fit.....

But worry not..... I had a co-worker who said she drank a glass of wine a couple times a week while pregnant.  I freaked out --- but then I googled it and found that in a lot of (developed) countries alcohol isn't banished during pregnancy and babies are born just fine.

I read this article:

http://parentingsquad.com/yes-you-can-drink-while-pregnant

I think one drink won't hurt you!!!  In fact my mom's OB told her to bring on labor to drink a glass of wine and she did --- and had me on my due date.

(She is urging me to drink some wine now to get this baby moving -- but I don't like wine anyway!  )

Nothing you can do at this point if you did drink alcohol.  Know that for centuries and centuries women drank primarily weak alcohol (mead) and wine with their meals most days (when water wasn't sanitary --- wine / mead was the drink of choice in the middle ages) and generations of babies were born just fine!

It is not unusal for mothers in Europe to partake in wine, beer, etc on occasion during pregnancy.  Hell, some countries have wine EVERYNIGHT with dinner, pregnant or not.

While pregnant with both my munchkins, my inlaws shipped a special Christmas wine.  When asked how it was, hubby explained that we don't drink alcohol during pregnancy over here, and they couldn't believe it.

I am sooooooooooooooo sorry that this happened...I would have been pissed too.....but nothing you can do now....

I agree with the other PPs.....you will be fine....our OB office says you shouldn't but if you have a glass of wine once in awhile you will be fine.....

Big Hugs,

Ann

Oh honey, it will be ok. I will  never forget that one night after work, my hubby took me to dinner and I ordered a margarita. It had been a seriously long and terrible day. About half way through the margarita, I started freaking out. We had been trying to get pregnant, and I was so mad at myself for drinking. How stupid was that? I didn't know I was pregnant, but the thought that I could be pregnant brought me to tears. Stupid, stupid stupid!! Well, in retrospect, i was pregnant, and I gave birth to a happy healthy bouncing baby boy almost 7 weeks ago. 1 drink won't hurt, i don't think. I wouldn't do it again, lol, but don't fret. It will all be ok!
