Fathers Day suggestions

Okay, Fathers Day is coming up in a little over a week and I am sure there are plenty of you out there that have NO clue what to get for the special man in your life.  So, I thought it might be good to start a thread to get ideas for others!

So far, I bought Russ a new pair of Chicago Cubs boardshorts from MLB.com.  We bought a boat (we should have it this weekend) and I am not a big fan of the boardshorts he currently has and he is a HUGE Cubs fan.  You can't find things like those around here, being in Dbacks country and all.  His shorts should be here some time next week.  Best of all, I found a 25% off coupon on www.retailmenot.com  to use towards my purchase.  Coupons always make things better.  I would still like to get him one more thing, but have yet to decide what that will be.  I really wish he had a desk job so I could get something for his office, but no such luck.

Your husband has great taste in baseball teams !!

This is a good thread.... I hope to see some good suggestions.  My husband will be a first-time father of only a week or so (depending on when I have this baby!).  I have no idea what to get him... and no easy way to sneak out and get him anything!

Personally, I like the Diamondbacks.    We are going to a Cubs/Diamondsback in Chicago sometime at the beginning of October.  That should be fun!  Russ' best friends, boyfriend has 4 season tickets that have been in his family for many, many years so they are taking us.

You definitely have a slight disadvantaged.  Although, the best fathers day gift will be the baby!  He will be in love from the first moment the baby arrives.

I read this on fertilityfriend and think I am going to do it with Emma. You just go to a craft store and buy the big wooden letters D A and Y....that way you can spell daddy. Then take pics of your little one/ones with each letter separately and then buy a picture frame with 5 slots and put the developed pictures in the slots to spell daddy. It looks so cute. You don't need to hang it in the office, maybe by where he sleeps or in the nursery...anywhere really. Of course my daughter calls dh PAPI.... so you can spell whatever you want. Shari

That is a wonderful and creative idea.  I love it!  I love being crafty so I might have to try that out.

Thanks for the idea!

I have been struggling big time with ideas for this.   My husband started his liquid diet yesterday for his lap band surgery June 24th.  We a lot of times take him out for dinner for special days...this is obviously out of the question.   He loves MN Twins baseball and is setting up all of his things in the office so I think I'll find him something to go there.   I thought about a cute new DAD t-shirt but soon that will be too big so thought twice about that.   He has requested that we take Sadie camping next weekend for the first time....well first time tent camping anyway.   So that's really what he wants is just a weekend as a family in the great outdoors.   We are planning to leave Fri and will be home sometime on Sun.  He says he's not going to get his fishing license so I think I'm going to get a hold of his dad and go pick up his fishing stuff.....go get the license for him and buy a kids pole for Sadie....this will be a wonderful gift for both Sadie and daddy...he's been so excited about teaching her to fish.

As for grandpa we got them both t-shirts that say best grandpa hands down and they came with fabric paint to put Sadie's handprints on them.   We're going to go visit them this weekend for her to give them their gifts.

I love the idea of the pictures and letters...might have to use that one for daddy's B-Day.  Thanks!

This weekend it is free fishing weekend in Michigan. I can't wait! I think your idea is great. Good luck with your husband's surgery. Men seem to do great with WLS.

That must be something they are doing all over because it is free fishing this weekend in Arizona, as well.  Glad I went and paid $75 for 2 fishing licenses LOL
