How long did you drive by yourself??

First- thanks for all the stripping advice.  I think if my OB will do it I am going to ask for it today in the hopes it will do *something* to get me going.

Now -- my husband doesn't want me driving at all any more !!!!!!!!!  I am not having regular contractions.  Last night I had some lower back pain and maybe some BH contractions that went away by the morning.

Did you keep driving?  Is there a point we shouldn't drive?  (I am past my 40 week mark)

I just want to go to the mall and walk walk walk and he doesn't. But he won't let me drive myself.

Plus I want bbq chicken legs and he doesn't -- but I think that's slightly off topic.

When you are in active labor, screaming and cursing only slows down the drive.

Other than that, go for it.

Well.... My water broke, I went into labor, I took a quick shower and drove myself 1/2 way to the doctors which was a 35-40 minute drive. My hubby met me and drove me the rest of the way. I say if you feel okay drive. But, on the water breaking front...might want to put a folded up towel on the car seat and be aware that it 'could' break at the mall....you just never know. Good luck! I drove myself to to L& D with riley............I didn't drive very well or probably very safe because I was fully dialated........LOL

But, I drove up until day of delivery day with all the kids...........you do what you are comfy with.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

I also drove right up to the day all 3 of my kids were born.   I even drove myself to the hospital the morning Sadie was born...mind you I was not in labor went in to be checked and ended up having a c-section that day.   My husband is legally blind and does not drive so I had no choice.   I also worked a full time job and a part time job up until the day before she was born.....so obviously I'm just a bit stubborn LOL.

I drove around the day before I was induced with my son.  You will be fine.  Yum, BBQ chicken sounds much better than my mushroom soup that I am going to do for lunch.

I don't see what the big deal is.  IF you were to go into full-blown labor while driving, you have enough sense to pull over.  Just keep a cell phone with you.  I went to my mom's house 2 hours away in another state 1 week before having Cassidy.  My husband kept joking that I would have the baby there, because I had contractions off and on for 2 weeks prior to my c-section.

Go get your bbq chicken legs!!  LOL

Well I'm probably not the best role model, but...... I drove myself to the hospital while in full blown labor when having Zander in December.... I had no choice other than calling an ambulance as my B/F cannot drive.... Also drove home the next day when we were released from the hospital with the baby.... But then again I am a tough old broad... LOL

I understand your hubby not wanting you to drive too far alone (just depends on how far the mall is)... Tell him to go with you or let you go and call him if you start feeling any labor symptoms at that point... It's good to get exercise as much as possible... That is what got my labor going was exercise... I was out walking almost all day the day before I went into labor which is what all my friends suggested I do...

Goodluck sweetie and I hope it happens really soon for you!!!
