Hi there, I am not on medi-cal or healthy families, but I can say this much.  I have been with Kaiser for many years and I know some people who have had Kaiser also as a Medi-Cal patient.  They are treated at Kaiser just as they would if they were a "paying" customer.  I wouldn't worry too much about that concern.  I am pretty sure if you are a Medi-Cal patient they pay for everything.  But there could be plans/situations I'm not aware of.  I used to work for the Dept of Health Svcs and from what I understand, they would rather pay to give a pregnant woman good prenatal care because if they give you a healthy birth then they will not have to pay all the expensive bills of fixing you and the baby after an unhealthy pregnancy.
HTH...

Oh and don't listen to the haters.  Goodness knows there are people full of every opinion on the planet.  No one can judge you perfectly unless they themselves are perfect.  I hope everything works out for you and your family.  :)

I was on FL medicaid for pregnant women. My ob/gyn was Fabulous!!!. There was no difference in treatment between me and someone who had private insurance. He actually was a little more "careful"  with me than someone who didn't have gastric bypass. I hope you will find that most doctors who accept the state plan also accept private insurance pts. While they don't get paid as much for a state plan pt but,  they do get paid.

I was on middle income state insurance with my last pregnancy. It in CA is called AIM.They paid for everything.I think it cost me a total of 875.00 for the entire pregnancy.

Don't feel bad using state insurance. many jobs with this economy are forgoing medical insurance. I wasn't able to get "private" insurance that was even affordable cause of my medical background.plus we are a family of 6..so it did help me to qualify.
This economy is changing social classes anyway.. people who judged others on welfare, unemployment or WIC etc.. are now seeing that THEY too need these programs as highly educated people cannot find work..

and my husband works..He is highly educated with a masters degree..He is a  special Ed teacher, we own a beautiful home and are stable.. but things are tight. REALLY tight...

Never feel bad using any type of help. we all fall in need at times..This economy now is sooo bad...doesn't mean your aren't worthy to have a baby or whatever.

Thank your husband for serving in the military for me:-) you of all people(military family) deserve great care... blessings and good luck.
