I love the Honda CRVs, too, but couldn't afford it. So, I found a Mazda Tribute instead and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! I have had it almost two years, and I have NEVER had an issue with it. Handles snow beautifully and has plenty of room. Pretty good mileage, too! Good luck!

Just saw this post. We have a Chevy Equinox. I love it. It has a comfy back seat with lots of leg room. Seats "5" but more like 4 in reality. It's not too bad on gas. I use about a tank a week going from Enfield to Hartford 5 or 6 times a week.

I shall now be know as Hagatha: Queen of the queens.

Actually I been looking at the Equinox, I travel about the same distance as you 5 times a week from Norwich to Groton, and currently I use a tank a week (Friday to Friday). Thanks!!

I have a 2008 Pontiac Torrent (equiv to the Chevy Equiniox) and I LOVE it.  The back seat is super room for grown adults and it has quite a bit of cargo space.  It's great on gas as well.

And with GM getting rid of Pontiac, I'm betting you could get an awesome deal on one right about now.  The warranty's and maintenances are still covered so no worries on that part.
