What kind of car
I used to have a Toyota 4Runner, but the bench seat in the back is pretty close to the passenger seats so when we put my daughter on the side she had no room for her legs. So we ditched the 4Runner and now have a Nissan Armada - LOVE IT!!!! The car rocks! Plenty of room all the way around!

I have a 2004 Chevy Suburban. I also have 4 kids here and 1 that will be visiting, so we need the room. It has all the bells and whistles... leather seats, DVD system, Bose sound system, heated seats, heated mirrors and a sunroof. It seats 7 and has plenty of cargo room.
I get about a little over 400 miles per tank. It has a 30 gallon tank. I use my fuel perks from my local grocery store to cut down on fuel costs.... but the 2004 Suburbans are flexfuel capable... meaning that I can use E85 ethanol in my tank. Nothing special needs to be done... but since you get less miles per gallon, it needs to be at least 28% cheaper than gas. (Thanks Jennifer Johnson for this info)
I love it, and I love all the room and the entertainment system really keeps the kids under control for longer trips.
Good Luck!

Do you ever listen to Clark Howard on talk radio? I do sometimes. He's the "Help you save more, spend less, and avoid getting ripped off" guy. He says right now that you shouldn't really buy used because you will get way more bang for your buck if you buy new due to the incentives being offered by the manufacturers. I heard him talking all about it today. This lady called in because she was actually trading in her 2007 car and getting a 2009 car with no additional cost to her....just basically carrying the loan over to the new car. And Clark said this is very possible in today's car climate. So I just wanted to pass that on since you said you were thinking of maybe buying used. Good luck! Buying a car is so exciting.
Talk about exciting we are in the process of buying a house too - I think I have too many things going on.LOL No idea who Clark Howard is but thanks for his advice, I wanted an excuse to buy new anyways. I dont want someone elses headaches with a boat load of miles. So you didnt mention what kind you have?
I have a Mazda Tribute - LOVE IT!! I always say when I get to get a new car I am going to get the exact same thing. It is roomy, great in the snow, 4 doors so it will be easy to get the car seat in and out of the back. Hubby works for Toyota and says that the Highlander is the way to go, and my Aunt has had at least 3 RAV 4s and loves them.
Happy Car shopping! They say that if you can afford it this is the time to do it!
